Anyone my age who read the Sunday comics as a kid remembers Dick Tracy and his watch which was his TV/communication. It never seemed possible that the huge TV in our family room could ever really be watch size. Well here in my lifetime, we are there. I personally like writing my checks and carrying cash. I use cards for car rentals, air line tickets, ordering on line, etc. But I know the day

Here is my take. Income is money made. Interest on investments for example. Income is not your salary or your wages. This is an even exchange - your time for your paycheck. If you worked to get a paycheck, you do not have income. You have agreed to give your time and efforts and the employer has agreed to pay you for the product of your labor.

Oh, I think that is exactly why we are captivated by the story. We are seeing true love prevail and most of us love a good love story. What wonderful examples of love and relationship Stormy and Jake are to their children.

This is a forum for all to voice an opinion and I voiced mine as I see it from circumstances where I live. So I again will say that simply, a teacher can not in our school system have a conversation about his/her own belief in God to a student or a room full of students on campus. But teachers, while not being able to name God in a positive light, must listen all day long to students naming God

Not always true. In public school, teachers can't pray or talk about God with their students. It is discouraged for a teacher to even say what denomination they may be for fear it may be considered a conversation of pursuation. However, students can swear - what is typically called "taking the Lord's name in vain". And in answer to the question as to why the tax breaks - well th

There is definitely a scene that is hard to watch - it keeps the movie authentic to the time and circumstances but it certainly isn't throughout the entire movie.

I read the book first. I loved the book and liked the movie. As in all book to movie translations, you lose alot of the detail that makes the story more complete. My husband hadn't read the book before we saw the movie but the movie made him want to read the book.

Any one watch this last night? They are leaving town and have two flat tires within 20 miles of home. These tires did not suddenly go bad in this 20 miles. On an earlier espisode, he sent the wives off to Wymoming ahead of him and the van broke down(or if you live in the south, tore up). He doesn't have the smarts to take responsibility for one wife and family, yet alone four. You would thin

Just from the little you have said, I think you need to look for a new counselor soon. If she believes you have faulty thinking she has already determined that your wife is right and you are wrong. If she is more concerned about your influence on your wife in regards to the church than she is with helping you and you wife adjust to the dynamics in the relationship, I don't see much hope in her

My first suggestion is to be sure that you and your wife can have a healthy relationship. If you and your wife are still sorting out how to live as believer/non-believer, it is not the time to think about having children. All relationships are different, all children are different so predicting how your yet unborn children will manage the difference between their parents is tough to guess. T

You are right, hotwaterblue, religion will not die because people will always want answers to things they don't know. Why did the Greeks and Romans have all their Gods - they have one for the sun and moon and seasons and love, etc because these God's explained things the people could not. Religion provides an afterlife and many people need to believe that this is not the end. The hope of seein

My daughter just called from her college in north georgia and posted pictures on facebook. No power so classes called for the day. She can't leave because there are so many trees down, she can't drive off campus. And this was the first minor front coming through. The serious stuff is due after lunch. We are certainly in a cycle of horrific storms across much of the country. But it is just

We will be going to early services at our Lutheran church. After service we will have a great breakfast prepared by about half dozen men of the congregation. Since I sing in the choir, I will go to the first few minutes of the second service so that I can sing and then I will sneak out the side door after our anthem. Then home to enjoy the sunshine by relaxing on the deck with the Sunday paper

Gustave Flaubert "One must not always think that feeling is everything. It can be most helpful to remember that feelings only face backward; they can only reflect what was. It is equally important to keep our feelings from making decisions that need to be made by our heads."

A few years ago, my friends daughter went on a mission to Argentina. I think reminding him that his health is important and he needs to responsibility for his health is a great thing to do. Then write once a week. That is what I did with my friends daughter. Sometimes a letter, sometimes just a card with short note. Include information about home, I cut pictures and news articles about her h

last night as I was cleaning house - last chance before Christmas. It was about 6:00. Hubby was not at home so they would not come in so we talked on the porch. One kept talking about my dog and how much she reminded him of his dog at home. I told them I knew it was hard to be away from family right now. I told them one big problem I had was that their church wants family to support one anot

Friend's daughter will graduate from BYU this spring. She will be 24, took a break from school at age 21 to serve her mission. Now she is older than most returning missionaries and most males on campus. My friend says that her daughter plans to move to NYC or Washington DC because those two cities have huge singles wards with professionals. According to my friend, her daughter is just not the

I too, was the non member. I was going to school in Cedar City and probably only dated two non members the whole time I was in school. Drinking wasn't my thing then, so dates were doing what I loved, hiking Zion, Cedar Canyon, Bryce, Cedar Breaks, etc. Never dated anyone very long. Told one guy that I really didn't want a white wedding dress but wanted ivory and you would have thought I shot hi

Good for you in your promise to write. My friends daughter went on a mission to Argentina and I wrote her once a week. I knew what she was getting from friends and family, so kept my letters newsy and informative about life in the world if you were not on a mission. Sent articles from the newspaper, pictures of her friends and sisters when they made the sports page, etc. Its the best thing yo

I am having a similar situation trying to talk to a friend. I know what to say - just don't how to start it out so that she will listen and not shut me out. Personally, I think six pages is too much info and while you write it so that they understand, they won't be open enough early on to see any side but theirs. Don't know if your parents were BIC or converts, but if BIC, tell them they ma

I lived as a never mo in Utah for three years in a 90% mormon area. I think it took some recovery time to adjust to normal people when I moved. Where I live now I have a convert friend who has never lived in Utah. I find her much different than most BIC Utah mormons. So here is the situation. Her 20 year old daughter goes to a church school and was home on break this summer and developed an i
