I have lived in the south all my life, and have known many people from Mississippi. I can not understand a Mississippi accent to save my life. Louisiana is even worse.

When the cold war ended, and the iron curtain came down, it was so Mormonism could go to the Russians, who were just clamoring to to give up their vodka and cigarettes for green jello and tap water. For some reason, the Russians decided to keep their twelve hundred years of tradition instead. Then it was onto China, where a billion people were just waiting to be bored for three hours every Su

I haven't seen all the leaked tapes, but the most interesting part for me, is that despite going back to 2008, I haven't seen Monson in any of them. This suggests to me that he is not involved in the running of the church in any meaningful way, and hasn't been so in a very long time.

To clarify, I don't think any real secrets changed hands in the video, however, I could not resist making this joke.

I posted a headline on this subject, making fun of the sacred verses secret thing. This is a whole gray area. It isn't exactly a secret Israel has nukes, though actually it is, since Israel has always officially denied having nukes, while simultaneously going out of their way to let everyone know that they do. It would be a disclosure of secrets if he admitted that we, the United States, gav

Her release is conditional upon her not interfering with the issuing of future marriage licences. My guess is that they are hoping by releasing her on a Friday, they can get all of the weekend, and a significant part of next week, before someone else comes in wanting to get married to someone of the same gender, and that in the time, with the media exposure gone, she will cool her heels and give

Their assumption is going to be that it hit right below the garment line, but since garments go down to the knee, that is highly unlikely. Hope he recovers, and hope he doesn't get an infection. Linen clothing, like garments, are bad about getting into gunshot wounds, and causing eternal infections. Luckily, science has a large number of antibiotics that should keep his magical underwear from

I believe this is true for one very simple reason. The line about the church attorney writing the revelation. My TBM relatives would all say they know it is untrue, because attorney's don't write revelations, but looking at the Proclamation on The Family, it precisely looks like what happens is that the big 15 tell their attorney's what they want to revelate, and the attorneys write it for them

I don't try to judge others or their relationships, nor am I trying to justify cheating. However, adultery is just as often about a bigger problem in the marriage than just someone cheating behind their partners back. There is a reason why having a spouse exposed as a cheater just as often strengthens a marriage as destroys it, and that reason is that it often forces the couple to take a deep l

If enough of the Big 15s names turn up, watch for an announcement that god has secretly reimposed polygamy, and that they were simply looking for extra wives.

The Supreme Court has already ruled that states can ban polygamy, even in cases where it is a religious practice. The ruling even mentions that the government can ban religious practices, when they conflict with established law, and cites human sacrifice as a theoretical example. Since no one can have a polygamist marriage, regardless of their religion, there isn't a 14th amendment case one can

May as well. Their anti-masturbation stance is just that much closer to being interpreted as as a few old guys speaking as men. Which technically, everything that comes out of their mouths is just them speaking as men.

Any parent who kicks a teenage child out, for not agreeing with them on religion, or because of their sexual orientation, should be in prison. In fact, there are even laws that would allow the states to do exactly this, but as far as I know, none do, because District Attorneys are elected officials, and no one wants to piss off the churches.

BTW, I think the reason the wife beaters got off, is because wife beating is surprising common, and the church wouldn't have enough people to fill church callings, if they suddenly started exing everyone who got arrested for it. Easier for them to just sweep it under the rug.

I think it depends on the nature of the charges, and how much you bring in to the church in tithing dollars, verses how bad you make the church look in the press, through your affiliation with it. If you murder someone in cold blood, you will almost certainly get ex-communicated. However, I know men who have been arrested for domestic violence, who served jail time, who were able to keep their

I think most Mormons, at least when I attended, will quietly admit to other Mormons that they think polygamy will be re-instituted sometime after Jesus finally get's around to returning from the dead. This may even been doctrine of the church, or at least was doctrinal until fairly recently. In reality, I don't see polygamy ever making a return to mainstream Mormonism, and I even recall confere

I also remember Reynold's being the east Tennessee equal to Mormon Royalty, because he hired so many members. Does anyone know what callings he held? On a side note, I can't tell you how excited I was to see these idiots taken down. They have ripped off a ton of people over the years. I actually came here to post the story, and then explain the link to Mormonism, because I just wanted to ta

I remember Cancer Fraud of America, when I was a Mormon in Knoxville. I don't think Brother Reynolds would hire someone unless they had their temple recommend. From what I remember of the guy, I doubt he was ever short one dollar on his tithing checks. However, he is also precisely the kind of guy who would do this shit, and not lose a night's sleep over it, and would think he is a good man, b

You are confusing the production with the movies, with the truth of the movies. Brother Lucas did not create Star Wars. He instead translated the script for Star Wars from a set of Golden Movie Reals. You can't see them, because you lack faith, and were not chosen to be one of the special witnesses to said artifacts. George Lucas, under the direction of the Angel Obi Kenobi, then created the

You don't understand the doctrine that is at issue here. Both versions are essentially correct. In both cases, Han felt through the Force that Greedo was about to shoot, and so acted through the force to shoot Greedo first. In the original version, Han used the force to stop Greedo from pulling the trigger. Brother Lucas then received revelation, that while events did indeed happen this way,

Possible, if they really do go forward with that plan. Remember though, there have been numerous times, where the church has gone months, if not years between the death of a prophet, and the appointing of a new one. I have a feeling this would be one of those times, as they waited for Packard to either die himself, or to become so feeble, that they can use him as a sock puppet.

It's about time someone has moved to protect us from the pornography of the great painters. Maybe next, they can take a page from those forward thinking minds in ISIS, and start destroying museums and artifacts that challenge their world view. (note, this is satire)

Jar Jar is not doctrinal. He was inserted into the movies after they were made, by an evil Sith lord, trying to discredit the work of the Prophet George Lucas.

I felt the Holy Ghost the other day. I felt it stronger than I have at any time in my life, including when I went to the temple. I can no longer go on being an unbeliever. Let me tell you what happened. You see, I was playing around on youtube, when I came across the trailer for the new Star Wars movie. Being a fan, I naturally clicked it. I felt good, watching the trailer, until...until...until
