One reason I love Rfm: I can get honest viewpoints/perspectives from other people. I get that some think my question is strange or stupid. Remember living in a world complety upside down from reality, aka-the cult? The universe tilted on its head once I found out it was all bullshit. I think I'm a reasonably intelligent person, therefore: I recognise that my notions of what is "real&qu

All of the latest happenings in Boston are pinging my conspiracy radar. If I speak to my family about it, they will say " The end of the world is nigh, repent! And blah blah blah My art friends will say " eff the gubbernment." Something about seeing armored vehicles rolling down the streets with mounted machine guns freaks me the hell out.. So, I'm asking you all, becau

This is just my opinion, based on personal experience: I think there are some genuinely good men who are bishops. However, the vast majority I have had contact with, are full of their own visions of the "power" they hold as judges in Israel. For some of these men, imo, the blend of having control over someone's religious life plus the temptation of voyeurism (via forced "repentanc

The whole " repent for YOUR part" in the rape is horrific. It is equivalent to being raped, spiritually and emotionally, again and again and again. The damage done to me, and so many others, regardless of gender, takes years to overcome. If ever. I am so very sickened every time I hear these accounts. Forgive the language, but **** This is why the church is not a benign force for

I agree, 100%. Sacred, not secret= bullshite. And perpetuating the "respect" continues to help churchco continue on as the corporate, money & soul sucking cult it is. I'm glad that not everyone has had the same experience in the church as I did. However: Secrets, (oops I meant "sacred things"), harm people. Keeps them from seeing the reality of exactly what ldsinc is..

Hey now, Northern Arizona is awesome!! I love the forests, high desert and everything in between. There used to be a bookmans, and a ton of other little bookstores. Has Barnes and Noble shut them all down? I hope not, growing up they were all over. Same in Sedona. Are they all gone now? :(

Chatting with my daughter about our favorite books:) We discussed Madeleine L'Engle's A Wrinkle in Time. Got me thinking... When I read this as a kid, I immediately associated "It", the giant, pulsating brain, with the church. It disturbed me, I read that book over and over, but could not put my finger on why it bugged me so much. Many years later, I realize that "Camazotz"

Here's my take on this: The "gospel" is bullshite. I don't really care who claims what authority. I will throw my support behind this movement, because it scares the bejesus out of the misogynists in cultco. And anything that can be done to set them off balance, and shine full daylight on the cult that continues to hurt my family : I am all in.

OH SNAP! This will be epic... But something tells me he, dodo, will wuss out. They would never allow a public debate, as much as I wish they would. The entire house of cards would crumble. Immediately. I hope I am wrong, and the debate really happens. I think you are a man of integrity, Tom. You give me hope for a better world for my family still under that boot. Thanks

Yes, he was my bros bishop, then mine after the ward split. He is no longer a bishop, but still a close family friend of theirs. I'm so glad today is (extended)family free. I love them, but as time goes by, it is easier to step further away. I like the peace from cultco ignorance, it's nicer here...
