This is just one more example of Mormons co-opting something that doesn’t belong to them. Imagine if the dad showed up at a Mormon “church”. His own hair style, hipster beard, blue shirt, etc, would have everyone looking down on him.

I'm sure TSCC does stuff like this to pump up the egos of big earners in order to keep the big tithes flowing in.

Yeah, this is sad. We know TSCC is teaching him to pay pray and obey, and to be “worthy” so that he can find a spouse. And it sounds like he’s been alienated from his kids, probably by a TBM ex, and probably with the help of TBM family members and “leaders.” Sad. Vandalism isn’t the answer, of course, but we shouldn’t be making fun of this guy. In fact, his shelf may crack and he

Keep in mind that this is NOT everything. It’s just one piece of a convoluted pie.

There won't be any left to put in a car. The bag is going to tip or roll sideways and it will all leak out! At least, whatever hadn't already leaked out.

The SP is using his imaginary powers of discernment to deduce that the hair is indicative of some other hidden "sin."

I recall some regular poster in the past was both a former Jw and ex-Mormon, but I don't recall who it was. My understanding is that JWs are kept fairly busy with kingdom work.

Rigdon's pre-Mormon theological background was as part of the "Restoration Movement" (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Restoration_Movement). It still exists in the form of three splinter groups: 1) Churches of Christ (a Capella) 2) Independent Christian Churches and Churches of Christ 3) Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) I spent much of my youth in #2. #1 and 1/2 of #

Yes, my oldest brother can be an @$$hole. My two lifelong best friends' older brothers can be @$$holes. Seems to be quite common.

A few years ago my TBM SIL posted a link to some Mormon bunk about feminism. In the ensuing dust up, all her flying monkey TBM friends joined in the pile-on, and were chiming in about how they were looking forward to eternal motherhood, etc. One lady added "the only one who wasn't married was Lucifer," so I would assume she believes Jesus was married. And none of them "corrected&qu

16. Re: BYU
Part of the reason that YBU can claim to be a high quality university is because they can turn away a lot of applicants (since basically every TBM kid wants to go there). The more seats they create, the more they diminish the YBU "value." Also, a temple is basically one building on a relatively small plot of land, staffed by volunteers. A university is many buildings on much more la

It's no secret that I'm a neverMo. I've always been open about that. But about half of my extended family are TBMs. I came here to "figure out" some of their antics, why they could wreak such havoc, have learned a lot, and stuck around although I don't post much or often. In fact, I used to come here daily, but less so recently because I think the caliber of discourse has gone downhill.

Thanks for the thoughts, everybody. I'm no expert on dreams, but I agree that they are probably the subconscious sort of working through things. Perhaps the more a given thing consumes your daytime conscious thoughts, the more it intrudes on your dream state. And the fewer stressors you have, the more your dreams are free to deal with whatever, maybe happier stuff. At least that's been my expe

Is the show owned by a Mormon entity? I don't know current stats, but wasn't TSCC heavily invested in broadcasting at one time?

I had an odd dream this morning. Usually dream details fade pretty fast, but not this one. As some of you know, my wife passed away 22 months ago. I don't dream about her much anymore. I sometimes dream about driving around other towns and cities, and that was the case this morning. I was driving an old red Miata that in real life I gave away nearly 15 years ago. In the dream I'd gotten off th

It's always creepy when people you aren't expecting pester you at your front door, but even creepier when they greet you by name. JW's will try to learn your name from public records too (although, to their credit, they seem to be going door-to-door less than they used too) and so do people volunteers banging on doors to talk about political candidates. Going door-to-door was always rude, but now

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I don't mean to hijack the thread, only to show that I can empathize with Don. I've posted about most of this stuff before.

Elder Berry Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > > "He gave the best Priesthood and Father Blessings > to family members and those who were sick and > needed them." I noted the same. Client testimonial? What, are they selling these blessings? No, they're selling the BS about his life. There may be a bit of "truth" about p

Narcissists reward the people in their lives to the extent that they help maintain the facade of lies and prop up the narcissist. The narcissist "loves" these people, but the truth is that the narcissist only loves them self. The narcissist likes how their supporters make them feel, and rewards them to keep it up.

When I worked in Switzerland in the 1990s, there was apparently a law that said newborns had to be given officially approved "Swiss" names. Other foreign colleagues complained about it. I had a classmate named Felatia in college earlier in the 90s.

Sorry, I sort of got on my own soap box. What I meant to say is that I feel your pain. I have long estranged myself from my family, but it's hard to maintain the separation, and not feel the pain and heartbreak at times like this. I think in part because its so final. Death ends the dim hope that maybe, just maybe, somehow the wrongs will be made right, or acknowledged or "fixed" in som

I've shared some details over the years, and have some parallels in my own toxic family. My dad died a multimillionaire in 2013. He was a narcissist and probably a sociopath. I have to give him some credit though: he set aside a million dollars for my brothers and I from his first marriage. Sadly, his wife was able to cheat us out of most of it. In this season of life, people really start to

Interesting! I have also heard this same lesson told by a non-Mormon preacher. I wonder where the Bishop first heard it.
