I am so profoundly sorry for your loss. Saucie was an amazing writer, an unmatched talent, and a hysterical read. One of my favorite Saucie posts regarded her former Bishop. "My old bishop had the self-control of a spastic jellyfish so when he got angry about something he would give the offending person the finger" She is missed.

It was 7 yrs, then 2 yrs, then 1. In the 70's storing wheat, honey, powdered milk, and I forget what else. And bottling every fruit, vegetable and fish. In Relief Society on homemaking day, the lessons included how to grind and make wheat into a meat substitute. It was ghastly!! Today I think preppers are similar to Mormon food storage folks of the past.

Hey cricket... thanks for your post and kind words to me. For some reason, I think circa 2006-07, during the Big Love days, I met up with you, Cabbie, toto, and shoot, I forgot her RfM forum name, but her IRL name starts with an L...at Market Street. L and I just happened to be in town at the same time, both from out of state. Cabbie organized the get-together that night. He talked of cricket

I am heartbroken to read this today. I was caring for my dying husband in the last years and lost touch with so many old friends, Randy is one of them. Cabbie and I were penpals, RfM boardie friends, and grew up on the same old playgrounds, with many of the same old playmates. May he rest in peace.

Hello stranger!! Some of us lurk in the background now and then still. Nice to see your name, and those of many old-timers replying to you SL Drone. My first visit here was '97 or '98, I think? Lots of water under that bridge.

You are correct. Roe may be overturned. I will not argue that point. It is up to the Court. And then it will be up to the women. Again.

We are speaking of Roe, I believe. Roe has nothing to do with men-- or their rights. In Roe, the Supreme Court ruled the Constitution of the United States protects a pregnant woman's LIBERTY TO CHOOSE to have an abortion without excessive government restriction.

Nice to meet you Cold-Dodger. It is really, quite simple. A woman's right to abortion is based on the Constitution's clear-cut guarantee of equal protection. And though unstated, a right of privacy. As Judge Ginsburg stated during her confirmation hearing for the Supreme Court- "It is essential to a woman's equality with man that she be the decision-maker, that her choice be contro

I have no advice Tyson, but I am thinking of you as you heal from the loss of your Mom and other family members in close concert. I am mourning as well. I became a widow 12 weeks ago. I can't give you advice, because I don't have any wisdom to share with you on this mourning thing. I'm just so sorry you hurt.

Thank you for understanding how it felt, cl2. I am sorry to hear about your son and hope things are better for him now. I would have died if this had been a neighbor! I learned much from you. Rude is it. That's what I was feeling and did not identify. I know in my heart it was meant with sincere concern and care, but in my head---and my head can be very, very petty, it was rude and hurtful when e

Yes, nothing will stop this roaring train of death that comes, regardless of if someone prays... or not. Sadly.

Yes, it's a well-intentioned family. I was told to call my bishop...as if I have one. Back when I was ex'd, the missionaries were instructed not to call on me!!

That's interesting Dallin. Reading "No Man Knows My History" in the '70s marked a turning point in my life that there was no turning back from. I wouldn't think of ever desiring a Mormon ritual at death more than I would want the JDubs or the Moonies to offer some ritual at death. They are all in the same pot to me. I don't know if they still baptize apostates after death...or excommuni

I was excommunicated decades ago,...when Blacks still didn't have the PH!! The loved one resigned, but the bishop told him the only way to do that was ex-communication, which happened. Trust me, this deathbed blessing was not sought out, and it has been declined. But it felt so strange to have our still TBM family member offer it up like it would be desired. I know their intent is good....but...

My first 2 1/2 minute talk was Psalm 23, KJV, of course. I was really little...and terrified. And I remember this gem: "While of these emblems we partake, in Jesus name and for His sake, let us remember and be sure, our hearts and hands are clean and pure." I am certain I would not recognize today's Mormonism.
