If you have no issue with all the words BUT "under God" then say the part you don't mind saying. Omit the part you do not like,,,, each to just skip two words. I happen to love my country and don't mind the pledge at all. As for prayer, it should not be done. A moment of silence for all to pray privately or just reflect as they wish is much more appropriate.

Like you said, you still have that history and so for you having these older men at your door did not seem odd in Utah until you realized that to them you are a nevermo and it should not have been done. A man my daughter met before she converted overstepped his boundary and came to our dinner table in a restaurant yrs. ago asking her if she wasn't going to FHE that night. She said No, it is my si

They would never admit anything but they had good intentions. And all cult lovers will protect that which is said by their "leaders." Be analytical and you will know if the things said make any sense at all or not.

Sorry you had to learn of this. I am thinking soon it will be an organization very top heavy with older people- 65 and over. Some will hang on til Grandma or Grandpa die but many won't care about mom and dad since they are seeing all those who are leaving now. It's the grandparents who just NEED that cult.

And breaking up siblings when one converts. Very sad on that end also. Some converts become so arrogant. Some do not allow their sibling to be part of the wedding party. Some don't let their sisters babysit their kids. Mormonism is a very sick and harmful organization. And I can't begin to describe how they treat parents sometimes when they convert for love and their NEW group of friends is so su

I would get a Toyota if it is over 200,000 miles. Mechanics tell us they work on toyotas nearing 300,000. I got my two yr. old car at Carmax...very happy experience. Have you lived in one place a long time. I had (20 yrs) and worked as well in this area for the same School District. With that as part of my background they didn't even look at my credit card debt (thank goodness). I had to put more

Well, to start with do hire a housekeeper. They have seen everything so do not be upset about what it looks like now. When they leave, even if only half better, you will feel better. And just so you know, my convert daughter and all of that family went to her hubby's oldest sister's house to save her when her oldest girl got sick and had to be in the hosp. A family member went to watch the other

So glad you are with someone who knows what she is talking about. And do not even think of your family members. It is time to think about you. Thoughts of their devotion to a cult or your struggle to teach them of it's harm can come later. Just concentrate on YOU. Best wishes and consider yourself on the top of the hill going down to the other side where there is sanity.

That is awful what they did to your dad. I can not stand pushy people who think they know what I need to do. Some day someone is going to take matters in their own hands when they are harassed.

Just quit. My dad did it in one day. Went to the Dr. due to feeling ill and he never went to the Dr. The Dr. couldn't believe he was even sitting there....blood pressure off the charts. The Dr. said you need to quite NOW- Today- and he did. Thru his cigs in the trash once home said my Mom, and never smoked again. It is often just in your head - willpower - So glad my dad had that. Oh and by th

I love maps that show the count within counties. I am from PA originally....that map makes it clear that Philly will take the state almost always. Hardly any blue and yet Obama won PA....some in Pittsburgh too and I recall he got the county that is Penn State further north/central. The rest of the state is solidly red.

And I take issue with NV being one of the least religious...sure with all the transients they count and those who may live here two yrs. or less, it would make the percent quite low. But for those who have lived here for a long long time.....a large percent go to church....and not LDS for the most part. I think LDS is like 20% max. Many Catholics here and Protestants. And the JW's are here too.

If you want to know if she is your true friend send the letter. She will call or email back if she is a true friend. If you don't hear from her then she was only liking the idea of a walk with you to persuade you to be active. And if you prefer to hear what she actually says once you say those things, then you need to take the walk and say it in person. Either way, I bet there will be no more wal

Understandable that you feel cheated, fooled, angry. But look at it this way. YOU were smart enough to figure it out eventually and so be happy and overjoyed you have escaped. When you get in the down mood, think of how much worse it would be if you were still in. Pat yourself on the back for being one of the smart ones.

Congrats. All that hokey pokey nonsense must seem very strange to you now. I never got how people who know they are good people feel a need to wear that "special" underwear to keep them from sinning. Seriously. Underwear?

I am sick. My five yr. old (almost) is going thru that crap most likely. My daughter was so stupid to convert. And her hubby didn't even go on a mission. He was poor and the family probably was okay with it since they had no money - 9 kids and no money.

Are you away from Utah now? WE lived there too and you were lucky if you got thru middle school (Jr. High) without being harassed. My daughter didn't. Her English teacher let a debate go on about religion and only my daughter and two others were not Mormon in the class. That is just wrong. You will never survive in Utah if those around you are Mormon or your neighbors are. We were ignored and so

Totally understandable. When I lived in Utah the first yr. my kids were in first grade and fourth grade.WE would go to PTA meetings or meet and greet nights at the beginning of the yr. and all I saw was a bunch of couples hanging out in groups talking about "church". No one ever looked at me for a hello. But they had let a couple of their kids come to my house for a couple hrs. of playt

I listened to the video of Earl and Karla Erskine last night. They are in their 60's and just got out 2 or 3 yrs. ago for good. I was caught up in the way it all happened. And it was HE who doubted first. He had been a bishop and held so many callings. He couldn't even tell his wife at first and I believe it was 8 months later he finally told her how he felt about his discoveries. She took a mont

My daughter lives there. Less Mormon than some may think. But plenty are there. See quite a few Christian churches when driving around. My daughter is the convert....think she converted there in '08. Her hubby's family got her when they were struggling financially.
