thanks for all your speedy replies- my husband is amazed! @ saucie I have a Mormon relative who has a bone injury that will not heal, painkillers do not work and no treatment has given any relief nor aided healing. My suggestion that this be used as a last ditch attempt for any result that may reduce pain / might prevent surgery has been met with hostility and blown out of all proportion.

with this product becoming more and more available, and the massive profits to be made with products produced from hemp - and it's psychoactive cousin cannabis - more and more organisations and individuals are gaining licenses to grow crops and produce various products, with or without the psycho-active ingredients (mostly without). Does anyone know if any of the church bigwigs or the church i

I talked about some countries in western europe, not all countries in western europe. I said nothing of italy, I only talked of my own country of which I have understanding. Another poster mentioned France. Rather than myself not understanding what a nation state is, you appear to misunderstand british politics, which is not unusual. Like the northern irish and welsh, our scots identity i

okay, but instead of proving my point as 'wrong', it actually reinforces the point I was trying to make. It proves the anecdotal evidence that aspirin's unexplained effectiveness made someone wonder HOW it worked, and the reason was finally known and published in 95, as you state. Aspirin has been used for millenia, as I stated previously, and until that particular study, the exact mechanic

the book review states the author does not believe in god or preternatural forces, the author does, however, state: “Revel in the mystery and drink in the unknown. It is where science and wonder meet.” It does sound like a thought provoking read, and I suppose that unless we as a people 'wonder' we will never discover anything 'new', scientific or otherwise.

There is no firm evidence on how aspirin works to relieve pain, however, the experience of millions of users over thousands of years proves it does relieve pain. In that respect there is no scientific evidence that it relieves pain. The only 'evidence' that aspirin works is anecdotal experience of those who have used the drug to relieve pain. Shall we just start saying there is no object

saying a behaviour is not honest or rational is calling names in the mormon passive aggressive way. you do not agree with many things, yet YOU claim you are the only one who can say if a belief is rational or not. YOU only have AN OPINION, (scientifically based or not), not a fact generator. Please be more respectful when you insist on disagreeing with something and please stop taking over

complete with the date in hebrew years? He must have been much respected in the area to be raised to the 33rd degree. Of course, every time your degree is raised, your 'dues' get raised too, so I will assume your grandfather was a wealthy man.

People who claim to follow christ quite often misuse the concept of being 'all forgiving' to keep control of a situation/congregation/family, as discussed already by previous posters. However, their own bible claims christ said to rebuke the sinner (to offend another is a sin in this case), first to family, then to neighbours on a second occasion of offending, and if the sinner does not change a

he was a freemason, but not a 33rd degree mason, only the standard 3 that most freemasons complete, all the way up to master mason. To make it up to this legendary 33rd degree he would have to have at least been the grandmaster of his lodge with much respect from other lodges. Everything above master mason is a modern invention (ie after first english lodge to go public in 18th century) and

thanks for your concern amyjo, I have what is commonly referred to as heart failure, which doesn't mean my heart is on it's way out; it means it is not working optimally. My heart muscle has become quite enlarged. I didn't have an 'incident' of any sort, it was picked up after I had felt the way the opie did for quite some time. Exhausted, and trying to push myself to be more 'healthy' to impr

exhaustion is not just a symptom of depression, it can be an indicator of underlying, more acute and more easily treatable problem, such as heart disease or failure. Do not panic and think your heart is about to give out, it's probably not. However, if your limbs are feeling like lead weights from time to time and things that used to seem a 'mountainous task' when viewed through depressed eyes

I was under the impression that the pharisees were more concerned with traditions and keeping to the 'letter of the law', rather than obeying the 'spirit of the law', which is why jesus the man called them out. For example, when he said 'he who is without sin cast the first stone' concerning the adultress, or when he told the story of the good samaritan being more of a neighbour than a phari

3 weeks after initial infection and I finally feel all clear, my husband and kids were over it within a week. Please think of others when viruses are doing the rounds - I've never been scared of sick people before but panicked the other day when a visitor sneezed and almost threw them out my house there and then (allergy sneeze). I apologised when I calmed down and realised it was not illne

I trust no-one who claims to see a cross in the sky. (Paul is not the only one) FYI in 6th century Ireland, the 'scriptures' contained the four gospels. Some lucky people owned a salter (book of psalms - why would christians have a book of psalms, an old testament/israelite book?) and wouldn't share the information (see life of saint columbus). There was no wide circulation of Paul's writi

I'm female and grew up through the 'equal opportunities' 80s which I am all for as this includes minorities, and I have nothing but support for those who started to achieve the liberation of women from constrictive societal roles - I caught the tail end of girls doing what the men told them to. However, I liked getting heavy things carried for me and doors held open that little bit longer th

The one time I was in america (business), the waitresses at the local sports bar where we ate competed with each other for how much tips they could earn in one shift. The record apparently was $400. One girl could take the order for an entire table of fourteen and get it all right. That feat merited not just a tip but praise from we brits in the group. I know tips are included and relied

when I first told my mormon family that I had a few problems with something I'd read on the LDS.org website they were 'sorry to hear that' and dismissed the whole thing. I thought they might ask what was bothering me exactly but they didn't. It seemed no major big deal except me having a 'faith crisis' (I never once called it that) that they apparently assumed I would 'get over' like everyone e

I worked somewhere once that 'informed' us were obliged not to go to the press with stories about our company (sky customer services) - rival media organisations paid big apparently. I was a bit slow off the box to pick up the phone on a story - moral dilemma held me back - and someone else beat me to the punch with a big scoop and earned a years wages in payment from the rival's newspaper. agreed - frightening, indeed. Worse that people fought and bled (some died) for the right to vote through a secret ballot (working men under 35 included) and 'elected officials' would wish to undo their sacrifice. Tyranny of the highest order, but, sadly, a lot of youth do not get involved in politics nor vote, sometimes never voting at all, feeling it is of no concern of theirs, ie, feelin

I know the states has a different system, but here in the UK voters must be registered on the electoral roll, which is used as proof of person by creditors. Not on the roll at the right address? No credit, bank account, insurance, employment, new flat, in fact, no participation in modern life. We - the electorate - generally trust the electoral roll system of voting. One obvious drawback th
