When I first heard of a fireside, I was excited about the prospects of it. But then, when I realized what it was, I was disappointed to a level 7 on the disappointment scale that only goes to 7.

Those who have been in relationships learn that it requires a give and take on both sides. Each person must accept the flaws of the other or this relationship isn’t going to last for very long. Imagine for a minute that Randy and Nancy are a couple. Randy gives Nancy a long list of rules that she must follow. Nancy doesn’t want to offend Randy so she tries to follow his rules. Nancy ha

Flash, I read your posts and then read them again. I didn't think it was possible for anyone to loathe their mission more than I did mine. But, I think you out loathed me on this. Thank you for posting these two fine posts.

I'm not an adoptee, but with me, the church and anger go hand in hand. The longer I was in, the deeper the anger went.

I don't have a best or worst lover's break-up story, but one time I tried to break up a cat fight between a calico and black cat with white nose & paws. Neither of them appreciated my efforts and luckily I had a box of band-aids.

Thank you for this link. My late Uncle Orville is now my late Gay Uncle Orville. I'm pretty sure he will be thrilled as will his late wife.

I too was tasked for a while with setting up the chairs in the gym for priesthood meeting. I was told to set up two carts worth of chairs but then left to my own desecration. Sometimes it would be two blocks of chairs with a single isle between them. Or, three blocks of chairs with two isles. Occasionally I would set them up with a slight curve. Nobody ever "corrected" my set-ups

My brothers and sisters, the lord god-almighty has just revelated that mankind can now pay in advance for many of the sins he/she has been regularly committing for free. Please see the financial clerk in your ward for individual sin amounts, daily specials, and bulk sin rates.

yes Selina, for a brief moment, you got me good. I scooted up in my chair expecting to see a sharp rebuke from the moderators, and then I realized what was up.

Have you ever pretended not to be annoyed when giving hard earned money, in a blue or white or grey envelope, to two teenage boys who knocked on your door unannounced, not knowing what that money was going to be used for, and being hungry because you haven’t eaten anything for a whole day and night? Then you must be a mormon.

I dunno, but perhaps if you have some ruby slippers you could wear then while standing in front of a mirror and say, "we, we, we, we, we, we, we" over and over until it happens.

I agree, a $200 donation is a more than acceptable amount. Asking for more is pure greed.

I predict that shortly there will be a new church calling called "compliance minister". The compliance minister will visit every member in the ward to see if they are towing-the-line in all aspects of their lives. Sacrament & sunday school attendance will be noted and reported. Did they take the sacrament with their right hand? Surprise visits to their house will be tol

The "Parable of the Talents", in Matthew 25:14–30 tells of a master who was leaving his house to travel, and, before leaving, entrusted his property to his servants. According to the abilities of each man, one servant received five talents, the second had received two, and the third received only one. I remember being taught, as a young mormon, that everyone has at least one talent

When I was the ward clerk 25+ years ago, I sat up front at the clerk's side table and took notes of who/what was said. I also walked up and down the isles counting heads. Then I would fold a white sheet of paper in half and set it up so the congregation could see what percentage of attendance we had. We averaged between 68% and 76%. Eventually the bishop told me to count empty sacrament

You can easily look up what your temple name is. Go to google dot com and search, "what is my mormon temple name" and it will show you a website with this information. All you need is to know the date you first went through. It's all there.

My first foray through the temple was a few days after entering the mission home. Later that evening the four of us missionaries were in the bunk room talking about it. One of them said he knew all of our names. We said he couldn't possibly know that, so he told us. That was my first inkling that the mormon church wasn't what I had thought it was.

Shhh, that will be coming up shortly in Rusty's next adventure talk. You know, the one where Indiana Rusty goes into the Temple of Swoon to find the Plates of Great Price which are guarded by scary things that glow in the dark when excited. And we find Susan's husband, who is caught in the sticky web, and when Rusty pulls the hidden lever, the giant devil spiders crawl out from their, , ,

I don't think it will "end" ever. It will instead slowly revelate itself into a gentleman's club of sorts. Men will still control everything about it and women will still hang around because they are told to. Nobody will recognize it as a religious entity but somehow it will continue to be a tax free corporation. Donations will become dues. Second annointings will become so commo

It seems like I heard this before. Didn't the raft catch fire after one of the oars exploded and spewed oil all over the raft? And, a lady sitting across from Rusty was hysterical that they were all going to die? But ole Rusty was calm and ready to meet his maker? And the raft spiraled out of control downwards? And then somehow the fire went out and the raft corrected itself? And t
