I wonder if that's the same answer he gives to people he knows are Mormon. I'm happy to hear that he could be honest with you.

I love it. I have a few reasons why I'm not joining in, but I've loved looking at all the pics. Especially the ones with whole families out.

There's a young teenager in my house! Oh My! He's saving up his money for some big ticket item and I'm running out of extra chores to help him earn. We live in the suburbs and all the typical menial jobs I'd do when I was his age just aren't an option here. I had the thought that I would be willing to pay him to read a book and then have a thoughtful discussion with me about it. I'm th

I consumed The Vacationers whole yesterday afternoon. I have been reading a book to my son at night that I am really enjoying called The Lost Track of Time. Great book for grade school kids if you are looking for a new bedtime novel.

I just found out that one of my parents' neighbors is rumored to have left the church. It also seems to have happened pre-policy change. This community is just outside of Rexburg and if not 100% Mormon, it's 99.9% Mormon. I am reaching out because I can only imagine how incredibly isolated you are feeling. Leaving the church was an incredibly painful process for me, so I can only imagine how p

In his defense, he probably believed that he was posting it in a safe place. It was a closed FB group of mormons. An exmo was an infiltrator in that group, saw it and then posted in on the exmo Redd!t and then on on of Dehlin's sites or FB pages, and asked if anyone had heard about it. Dehlin took it from there.

I just love it when we can sit back and the Mormons continue to reveal their true selves for the whole world to see. Seriously? The Bay Area? HAHAHAHAHA! Could there be a more polar opposite to Utah Valley?

Exactly. I had no plans to resign until they started approaching my kids. I really don't think they realize how creepy that is. Strangers (as in my kids have no clue who you are!) addressing children by their names and telling them how much they "miss them" is NOT OKAY!

Drinking wine* and working on a paper about the relationships of the US's "founding fathers" and how those dynamics helped shape our government. *A local Pinot Grigio, chilled and very refreshing as it is still very warm here in California.

Maybe, but if they punish her for publishing, she'd have an even bigger story and be an even brighter light into the racism in the Mormon church and culture.

I read "The Emperor of all Maladies" of few years back. Very well written. Reading it has also helped when people in my circle have been diagnosed with cancer. It's always so difficult for me to know what to say, so I mostly try to listen, but having some knowledge has aided in those difficult discussions and it seems my friends appreciate that I understand the terms they are using.
