Thank you Nightingale- you explained what I meant by torture. As one who endured Catholicism until a teen, I was always tortured by the empty stomach for Communion Sundays. No allowance was made for our comfort as children, and who can sit still for hours if you are under six? The mind torture was something else, and the relief I felt finding out the Church was full of child molesters, which I

I have been reading posts here since 1998, and have come to the conclusion that children in the LDS are tortured from an early age. Now we know that the years from 1 to 5 are the most important in the formation of a child's' brain and character. I am happy to say that I have only four great grandchildren who have been indoctrinated into the cult. Otherwise they have a good life with somewhat li

O.K., I have not used the SL airport lately only relaying opinion of others with small kids. Evidently the airport was old and in need of improvement, so a new one was built with updated features, like a waiting room for families welcoming missionary people back.(Google)A very Mormon feature unique to SL?

Recently some relatives of mine used the SL airport. The expansion has six walkways to get from the gates to the baggage area. Who is financing this huge airport addition, and why does the government expect SL to increase population to 100,000 in coming years? Taxpayers? Private capital?

I hear from my source in Utah that church numbers are down even with spaced seating and 45 minute service. The answer is that people are not bothering to attend since they have no meetings to go to, so are simply staying home. Any thoughts on this or alternate explanations?

I have been reading and posting here since 1998, when I wanted to know more about the cult that my child had entered. I still write to Anagrammy and Msmom, as I met them in person long ago. They do not post much, but I keep up with one of them on Facebook. Miss Kimba too.

Such a good read! You would not think that librarians had such tension filled lives, but sometimes they do.

My convert daughter did some home visiting to a 90 year old, keeping her distance and wearing a mask. The elderly lady later sent her 2 dozen red roses as a thank you. My daughter said that they must have been expensive, and when I replied that she had very little need to spend money on herself at a great age, my daughter replied that there were grandchildren, Well, who was doing the visiting

I try to balance this out by removing anything religious from the little Free Library Boxes. You know what happens then. I once worked in a library where I was in charge of weeding the reference. The whole Mormon encyclopedia was removed to recycling. It just sat there taking up space before I came along.

I discovered RFM in 1998, and have read it almost every day, trying to understand why a sensible girl like my daughter would join up and defend her choice so fiercely. My Buddhist son says to just "let it go:, but I still would like to ask her if she is going to watch "The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City."

I am happy to say that my son and I can discuss anything and laugh at it all. My daughter only talks about her grandchildren, and since there are so many little scamps there is always something funny to laugh at. Trying to stay cheerful is sometimes difficult, but "look on the bright side of life"!

As for education, babies and family prevented me from getting any degree until I was 58! Then I got my first real job in another state that recruited me, and retired after 6 years. Also bought a house, which is almost paid off. Never too late to get an education, and yes, I did hate my one parent for a long time.

We do have an idea that the glaciers are melting, the arctic ocean is open in summer, the polar bears are dying, and Greenland is losing iceinto the ocean. Not any idea that the air and water are warming? Tut tut.

When i finish a puzzle, I glue it together and sometimes frame it I made a mistake and taped a wooden puzzle together and threw out the box with the picture. Later I untaped it and now can't finish it, as there seems to be some pieces that can go two different places. I gave an easy puzzle to a grandchild, and that one got glued and framed too. This year there are no plans whatsoever for dinn

Fawn Brodie's book on Smith was the first and only book that I read into a cassette player for a blind man in 1982. Later, I found the original newspaper account of Smith's trial in New York at the New York library. When I sent a list of books that I had read on the Mormons to my convert daughter she claimed they were all anti- Mormon books. They were just the well researched facts.

Ufotofu- I don't really pull my hair, but it seemed to go with solitaire. I have purchased some new scissors to trim my hair, and do a pretty good job. No need for beauty parlors. I wish I could get some of these programs listed here, but have to settle for old movies on dvd's. When it is 111 degrees here in the 'hood, I will be cool enough and watching movies all day.

I downloaded a book yesterday. A book for our times is called Truth in Our Times, by David E. McCrath. He is a lawyer for the NYT, and I missed out on a lot by not reading that paper. So far it is good stuff!

My deceased older brother never wasted time looking for lost tools. He just went and bought new ones. When my kids were hired to clean his house they used shovels and wheelbarrows, when I cleaned his garage, it was like a dinosaur dig. I burrowed down through layers of old boxes that were saved long after the appliances were gone. They might come in handy someday. I found three hammers, six pl

Update since last post here. The Rise and Fall of the Dinosaurs, by Steve Brusatte- very entertaining and scholarly. Starting today -The Unconsoled by Kazuo Ishiguro. May switch to a bodice ripper if things get too grim.

I am informed that on an evening in one TBM neighborhood everyone sits outside their homes while neighbors walk by on the sidewalk and visit for a few minutes, keeping social distance and keeping up with gossip. Less is said about Sunday services, but a lot about going for hikes and camping on a weekend.
