This is a writer who may have written before. . .profesionally. She writes in a way that displays not only a deep knowledge of English usage and grammar but also the principles and guidelines of fiction writing. Really impressive.

Denver Snuffer is going to be lecturing here in Southern California on September 21. On September 24, he will be baptizing interested people. The word "Remnant" does not appear in the advertisement. I did not realize he is a Christian. He claims, "Jesus Alone Saves" and "Christ is the way to social justice." Is he getting a significant following?

I subscribe to DIALOGUE out of curiosity and interest. Some of the articles are quite progressive while some put my teeth on edge. I received an email from DIALOGUE with information about this: Jack Welch: BYU law scholar John W. Welch will visit the Miller Eccles group in California on February 20th and 21st to talk about "Sustaining the Law: Joseph Smith’s Legal Encounters." C

How is it even possible for a rational person to take seriously the comments of someone who refers to SATAN as a real entity?

I was talking to my TBM cousin and asked her if she had ever heard of the essays the Church has been releasing. Of course, she said no. The more I talked about them the more she was interested in reading them. I went, out of curiosity, to lds.org to see whether I could find them easily. I could not. I ended up copying and pasting all the links that we have on this Board and including the

Ok, elderolddog: Makes sense. I loved your review! So at least I got to experience it right here on RfM.

Would you consider putting your review up on Amazon? There are several reviews, but none has the punch yours does.

I read the book today, Elder OldDog, and wrote a review for Amazon. Your review is brilliant. I agree with all your observations. I wish I had written something this extensive and funny for Amazon. Essentially, I said that the fiction is mediocre but that the "Insider's View" of Mormonism almost amounts to a kind of exposure. I mean, she does a good job of revealing the whack job

A friend of mine is a cousin of Paul Walker. This friend talks only lovingly about Paul Walker and what a compassionate and good person he was. Of course, he IS the cousin. Here in Los Angeles and Glendale the Mormon connection was just a blip in the news reports. So interesting that the DESERET NEWS/the Mormon church want to claim him for some reason.

Bill Maher bashes all religions. He makes fun of Catholicism, Scientology, and Mormonism to name just three.

I cannot remember when I have read someone so ignorant and arrogant. This 17 year old clearly does not know what he does not know. He is so young. But honestly, he is just a harbinger of his older self to come. I know people in the Church--intelligent adults--who say stuff just as remarkably stupid and close-minded. Whenever anyone tells me that all I have to do to "know" the BOM

I admire the quality of thought and presentation in this letter. I admire the time that went into the construction of this letter. Every once in a while I try to say something with 1/100 of the power of this communication to TBM people I know. It is such a waste of time. They are so certain and blockaded against anything that might be different from their set beliefs. Again, I admire th

I agree that Slate nails it. I have been so entertained for years about the way the the one true Church on the face of the earth keeps changing its truths!

What is so hard to believe in this story is the the BOM-tearing-in-half guy would even want to "repent of a mistake," that he would work for 9 years to get his "priesthood blessings" restored. Nah. I don't think so.

Honestly, it reads like a joke, a parody. Surely it is a clever put-down.

I suspect she is numb. Of course, her supportive family will be immeasurably helpful. She is NOT doing as well as she appears to be doing. She is going to need a lot of counseling. There is no way she can have had the experience she has had and not have been deeply traumatized, the results of which can take years to manifest fully.

Seven times. Twice in NYC and five times in LA. I agree with the poster who said it was fun to see it in NYC with the original cast and because the venue is smaller. All the productions are high quality so it doesn't matter WHERE you see it. I love what I believe to be the real point of the play: that religions and gods are created by the human mind.

I wore pants to a funeral a few years ago. I also have double pierced ears. No one said anything but, whew, I felt, uh, different. Not that I cared.

This blogger says: "For instance, I stand with Jesus Christ; His Prophet and the Church He organized through the Prophet of the Restoration, Joseph Smith Jr. I stand with them because I have a deep and abiding testimony that this work is true and that an inspired prophet of God leads it." Because this is the premise of her statement and the premise is nonsense, the whole statement is
