That would be a hellish situation. "So you're God, huh? And this is they way you want things? And you're going to punish me for not liking it and for thinking you're a tyrannical @sshole? Then I guess I'm totally f#cked."

I was a good Mormon but miserable -- feeling constantly judged, never validated for the things I felt were important, felling unloved, unworthy, unfulfilled, exploited... Looking back, maybe that was a good thing because I might have wasted a lot more of my life in the church if I had been a little happier.

Schizophrenics think their own thoughts are voices of other people. Mormons think their own negative feelings and actions must come from other people.

Does ETB's patriarchal blessing actually say that none of his children or grandchildren will fall away? Or is that just other Mormon lore? If it does, well, the church says the promises contained in patriarchal blessings are conditional, dependent upon one's righteousness and worthiness. So it looks like ETB wasn't worthy.

Your patriarchal blessing will cease to be confusing once you accept that it's utter bullshit. They aren't predictions of the future (and a good patriarch would've emphasized that), they're just meant to steer you in the direction of being a good cog in the church's machine.

I don't know what it's like these days, but a generation or so ago the saints in Cardston viewed the church as their private club. They had no interest in bringing in converts.

Some divorces are total surprises to those outside the marriage. Other divorces are no surprise to anyone. I think the Weeds are a case of no one being surprised except the Weeds.

85-year-old Bill Marriott is the Executive Chairman. The CEO, Arne Sorenson, was born in Tokyo, and has degrees from Luther College (founded by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America) and the University of Minnesota Law School. I doubt he's a Mormon. Marriott Internationals, Inc. is a big company employing all kinds of people. But if it's too Mormon for you, Crazyhorse, that's okay. Stay wher

For me it wasn't a matter of learning the truth about the church. It was a mater of realizing the truth about myself: I was actually an atheist. So, if I could go back? I'd listen more

Women's temple garments are proof the brethren are sexless and stupid. They could use their power to require women to wear super sexy lingerie in order please the men. Hell, they could require nudity. But no.

As I've written before, I think DU was selected as an apostle in hopes of energizing European Mormons. (After all, he's not related to any of the brethren.) When that didn't do much, he was elevated to the 1stP. But that didn't move the needle either, so now they're probably sending him there to cheerlead in person.

This reminds me of when I was in college, occasionally going to church only for social reasons, and The Lord inspired the bishopric to call me to be the elders quorum president. I chuckled to myself, because not only was I a disbeliever, but I was graduating in a couple of weeks and moving away. I let them set me apart, then they never saw me again.

Modern Wicca is sort of a grab bag of stuff. So just do the same and make up your own rituals. Give it whatever name you like, or no name at all.
