Yeah, I'm not looking for advice on whether or not to attend college right now. I get what you're saying, but I've already decided this is exactly where I need to be right now. I have no student loans, or any type of loan for that matter, and I don't plan on getting any. Doing well in school right now will get me a job I love and will pay 3 times what I'd make right now working full time. A

Yeah, maybe I should call the bishops mother and complain to her about the bishop.

This also tells me I probably won't be able to resign without them getting a call either.

I don't see how I'm letting the bishop do that. I've never talked to him. He did all of this behind my back. Which is part of what I don't like. The same thing happened on my mission. But yeah, I'll tell him for the future. As far as my parents go, I've tried to set boundaries with them. They don't care. Which is why I chose to go to college halfway across the country. I've also told them I di

How would I remove my parents contact details that live in another stake?

Mormons will consider it as some kind of sign that the second coming is getting closer. As well as evidence of continuing revelation.

Oh, and they'd probably have to mention the prophetess in the bible.

I don't think it would be that much of a jump for mormons. They'd talk about how women already have the priesthood in the temple and in heaven. And they'd say that the relief society was created in preparation for women to recieve the priesthood. They'd also mention all the things that women can already do that men are supposed to have the priesthood before doing. Yeah, some mormons would leav

I don't know if I can agree with that, but in some ways I do. So on the surface you see that only the men hold the priesthood, and because of that nearly all of the leaders are men. Because of that it is very patriarchal. But deeper down, there is so much more to it. Very few men actually act in those leadership positions. For the rest of them, all having the priesthood means is having to

I've read it cover to cover at least once. I'm sure many active mormons haven't, but many have. And many have several times.

So I left home, starting this semester for university. I went to church only once just to get my records transferred so they didn't stay in my parents stake. I figured they'd start to wonder if my records never moved. The plan was to stop attending as soon as I left home, and just pretend to my parents that I was still an active member. The only concern I had was if my parents decided to visit

I know the washing and anointing changed over time, but can anyone confirm that it used to contain partial nudity? I know it doesn't now, but now they don't even wear the "shield" or whatever it was called. They just wear the white temple clothes (not the endowment stuff, just the all white dress clothes.)

I've hated that song, "praise to the man" for a very long time. And Mormons wonder why some people think they worship Joseph Smith.

I remember standing on the spot where Smith died when he was shot and jumped out of that window. I wished that he died much earlier on so the church didn't grow so much and instead went the way most cults do. But I also wonder what would have happened differently. Smith wasn't the only person creating cults at the time. I heard that there were a lot of them at the time. Smith's was just the o

So the mormon story is essentially "mormons were persecuted" and "Smith was innocent". The real story is that Joseph Smith attempted to murder the governor of Missouri. The Missouri government tried to extradite him, and try him in court. Smith escaped arrest. (with the help of his followers of course) The municipal court of Nauvoo, acting outside of its authority, disc

As of now, I'm the only exception mormon in my immediate family. I'm really hoping that someone else comes around, so I won't be the only one.

I know the second endowment is a thing, but also that it is extremely rare. But I have know clue what goes on in it. Does anyone know anything about it, or where to find information on it? Is it anything like what happens in the next level of freemasonry?(Freemasons have 3 levels).

It sounded to me that it is just a name change but with a few adjustments. I should point out that this is just moving farther in the direction they were already headed in with the changes in home teaching. They were already starting to count more things as home teaching, and they were already getting rid of the first presidency message before this announcement. They are making visiting teachi

As another step, I officially signed up for exmormon.org. My first post was actually on my mission. When I'm off to college I'll finally be able to stop practicing mormonism. When I graduate hopefully I won't be afraid of people knowing what I really believe.

I just wrote a long post and then lost it all, so here it goes again. I'm finally leaving my mormon parents home. I'm going to a non mormon university far away from home. I'm not planning on ever going back home. It's taking be much longer than I hoped and expected for me to transition out of mormonism. It's just baby steps for me. I'm not planning on officially leaving until I'm financially stab
