My suggestion is to tell the truth, maybe not the whole truth, but the truth all the same. When asked to be part of the funeral, just say "Mother and I had differences regarding my faith to the point we couldn't talk about it. Mom's passing has deeply affected me and I prefer that deal with her death in a private manner. Having to be part of the LDS rituals would prevent me from coming

Don't feel too bad, I was well into my 50's when I finally realized what some of the messages sent from early dates really meant. Bet there are a bunch of us on this board that are kicking themselves for missed opportunities.

I too live in Washington state and agree with 'Tall Man, Short Hair ( )'. The way the policy is written here, anyone can use any restroom or dressing room they want. They is nothing to stop the hormone infused high school boy's football team from using the girl dressing room when ever they like. There has to be some boundaries. The State's human rights commission has said having a g

Tell the truth. You have a revelation all the time, you can think and reason. You see the beauty of nature, the beauty of God's love. You can love all things as they are God's gift and that no political or religious leader can tell you differently.

Why is it that when I hear someone speaking of "moist or moisture" my mind goes to thinking of something sexual?

My son's family got my wife tickets to Billy Joel at Safeco Field in Seattle next month for her birthday. Their first comments to me were "Do you know who Billy Joel is?" I first said, he's Christy Brinkley's ex and also the 'Piano Man". I'm old, but not dead yet. I still get good vibs when I hear "Raspberry Parade".

If LGBT couple wanted a wedding cake from a certain bakery and the bakery refused, why would the couple go to court to force the transaction? I sure wouldn't want to eat a piece of the cake someone was forced to bake. You don't know what they baker would put or spit into the batter for revenge. Go someplace that appreciates your business.

Wow, that was me that made the comment that started this message. I read SB cartoons, some I agree with, others I don't, but it's nice to see a tie between the two lines of discussion. My recall of almost 50 years ago is where I came up with 14, I should have done a little research and got the info correct. SB- keep up the good work.

You said that your parents made you quit your job. Reading between the lines, you'll be graduating from HS soon and hoping you'll be 18 by then. If turning 18 and graduating is true, tell Trish you still want the job but need to keep the news under the radar with your parents. When you turn 18, you're an adult and there isn't anything that your parents can do except throw you out of thei

Most religions are set up as sole corporations. The Catholic church each diocese is a corporation. A diocese is like a stake. Do a google search "Is the xxxx church a corporation". What the COJCLDS is doing is consistent with what other religions are doing and nothing to get bent out of shape over.

If you believed that your mission calling was controlled by god, why did you have to apply. They should have been able to just send out a post card saying this is your calling notice, you know where you're suppose to go, report on your appointment date. Time and place is all inspired, no need for written details.

I was told about 50 years ago that males were given first and middle names at birth. Girls on the other hand were only given first names, this was so that when they got their secret new name at baptism, and when she got married this became her middle name and only her and her husband knew it. He needed that name to call her thru the veil so she could pass into the CK. Did I remember th

hausfrau() If your brother's and SIL decision bothers you so much, why don't you ask them why their kids aren't going. Get the information first hand rather than beating around the bushes. If your sister is upset that "not all the nieces and nephews" are going to be there, maybe she should of thought out the impacts of having a "destination wedding" in the first place.

Don't know what e-mail system you are using, but on something like MS Outlook, you can create a rule that automatically deletes message coming from a specific sender. Better yet, you could have the rule automatically reply with a specific message and then delete the message. And if you really want to mess things up, do a little web surfing and any site that requests an email address, just u

My son dropped out of college for a year and got a job as a door to door vacuum cleaner salesman. After a few days of training, he came home and put the sales pitch on my wife and me. At first I tried to me supportive and listen to the spiel, and then I started to chuckle to myself because he had his mother in a tizzy. She finally got PO'ed and didn't like getting painted into a corner a

I must be a bit dense, but trying to read and understand the various messages and Brettys() link, https://tech.lds.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15193 The attendance is based on the quarterly average attendance, and then the reimbursement allowance is for the quarter and not for each week? Based on that 5 member family and the resulting reimbursement of $365/years, and assuming 100 families,

That's great about your son doing you a favor. I did something similar once while I was in grade school. Mom always had the clocks running 15 minutes fast, "so we won't be late". We'd still be late for church/school etc., because everyone knew that clocks were 15 minutes fast. I changed the clocks 15 minutes ahead one night so we could really be on time. Dad was pissed the ne

Take some time over the next few weeks and list the things that make you you. One of my first encounters with this phenomenon was when I was working in Wyoming and we needed to rent a portable generator. After we got done with the generator and returned it to the owner, he said he'd send the bill to our office. When we got back to the office we reported to the boss, who was TBM, what had transpired and about the bill. The first thing out of his mouth was " Oh gr

A little O/T, but I recently read an article about the military when designing the cock-pits of fighter jets when they were just coming into existence. They took measurements of all their pilots, height, weight, span, lengths of ankle to knee, knee to hip, arm lengths, reach, etc. etc. Everything you could think of. Then they averaged the results and designed the cock-pits to these measure

I've been a follower of Robert Kirby for several years and almost always find his column enlightening and entertaining. The one theme I see in his writing is his practice of 'free-agency'. He takes the facts and situations in his life, applies his morals and ethics and then acts. He is one that has figured out who he is and how he fits into this world. He knows he doesn't know everything
