I'm an ENFP. I'm almost equally balanced in all except I'm a lot more F than T. I have occasionally wondered whether my strong F is a result of thirty years in mormondom. Since taking the test a couple of years ago I've become more aware of my F tendencies and have enjoyed trying to strengthen my T responses. I like to think of it as getting in touch with my inner Vulcan (I'm a Star Trek ne

I'll occasionally refer to myself, when talking to a TBM, as an 'evil apostate'. My tone of voice, I hope, conveys the message that I'm making fun of the very idea. I'm almost daring them to even think it.

Stotties. A North East (of England) delicacy. It's a round flat bread and we often bought a breakfast stottie from a local cafe in Gateshead, it was filled with sausages, bacon, fried egg and baked beans.

You may think you decided he's your cat, I suspect he decided you were his humans first. :) There is a good chance he'll perk up, if you can tempt him to eat it may help. Let him lick cat food or baby food from your finger. If you can look in his mouth, watch out for mouth ulcers (especially on his tongue) as that can be a sign of kidney failure. I've had cats who have been lethargic an

"...... paid church workers were given their leave/release to seek employment elsewhere, though probably not with another church." Though probably not with another church! Love his sense of humour and understatement. That's often where he's the most profound.

Tom, you mean you don't want to be back here in the lone and dreary wilderness?! Who fancies a meet up? Any preference for location? Birmingham is central and seems easy to get to - yes, no? Or wait until summer? No preference for me really, what does everyone else think?

Inspired by the UK shout out I think it's time for a meet up, anyone else agree? We've held them in London, Birmingham, Manchester and Glasgow over the years. From past experience we are unlikely to get a date and location everyone can do so let's go for the majority. Any starters for ten? Tom - are you planning a visit to the UK this quarter? Perhaps we should start with your avai

Live in Derbyshire, been here just over two years. North London born and bred. Mission in Leeds 85-86 (Gateshead, Halifax, Bradford, Washington, Newcastle). Have also lived in South Shields, Lincoln and Crewe. And Southern California (Santa Monica 2 and Chatsworth) for a couple years 81-82. Yes, I'm old enough to have gotten around a bit!

All my TBM friends but especially my black TBM friends. I often wonder how they cannot see the racism in the church. If they are ignoring the history surely the maths tells them the percentage of GAs who are are black. Last time I looked at the pictures in the Ensign, out of about 110 faces I could find one or two who were not caucasian.

Cool, just saw this thread. I'm going to be imperfect! Yay. PS I always manage it but this year I'm going to own it.

I read something the other day that made me realise the programming 'be ye therefore perfect' is still a part of my thinking. So, this year my new year resolutions are (in no particular order): 1. Take risks 2. Make mistakes 3. Have fun It's ok to not be perfect. Who knew?!

Nealster, I don't remember that so much (was in the 80s) but I recall him banging on about proof of temple marriage. It was pretty much a blur to me then.... and now I can barely remember a thing about it except the sleep-inducing drone of his voice.

I had the audio tape of Hugh Nibley talking about the Dead Sea Scrolls. Could never get past the first 15 minutes without falling asleep. And that was when I was TBM and believed every word.

I served in the England Leeds Mission and, although I was born and bred in the UK (London), I had never seen such poverty. I always felt safe in the poor areas and we met, and taught, some really nice people. Converted a few too, tempted to get in touch to apologise.

There was a theory going around at church, when I was a teenager in the early 80s, that if you played Queen backwards it was devil worship.

I did home study and loved it (I converted at age 11 and really believed) plus we had a class at the chapel (London North Ward) early on Saturday mornings, which I also loved. As an adult I taught early morning seminary for three years. Now trying my best to block out the memory of all of the above. On a lighter note, one of my early morning students came over for lunch a few weeks ago (sh

I am enjoying a lovely xmas with my Gay Best Friend and his partner. My GBF and I met here in London seven years ago, after meeting on RfM. He's an RM, in fact we went to the same mission although at different times. Not sure what I'd do without him and it's all thanks to this discussion board - a huge thank you to everyone who keeps this place going.
