Telling someone to pound sand is basically equivalent to telling them to f off. And I agree that you shouldn't have to attend the funeral if you don't want to. Frankly, it sounds like you don't have good memories of your mother. Funerals are held so people can pay their last respects. Sounds like your mom and the rest of your family lost yours a long time ago. So don't go if you don't want

Yeah... and beagles are notorious for getting lost or being hard to catch when they get on a scent. My younger hound, Zane, is a real stinker when he manages to get loose! I never did see that creepy guy again. I probably should have called the cops, though. And yeah, I think she has low self esteem. I just wish she wouldn't try to boost her self image by insulting mine.

I just have to vent. Does anyone else besides me have an "overly helpful" person in their lives? This is the kind of person I'm thinking of... * Chimes in with a "more informed" opinion whenever you say something or try to express an opinion. * Usually has some kind of unsolicited "helpful advice" for you. * Likes to play "devil's advocate" or p

There's no such thing as a bad word. Words derive meaning from the people who use them. It's the intention behind the words that we should be concerned about, not the words themselves.

Oh, I hear you on distance! My family is not LDS and neither is most of my husband's family. His ex wife and kids are TBMs, but they refuse to have anything to do with him. We do get occasional guilt trips from my husband's Catholic family, though. I have to admit, though, because thousands of miles away from family was so peaceful. No guilt trips were laid because it was understood that

We will be leaving GA for NC in April. I'm kind of hoping we find another house waaaay out in the woods. We haven't seen the Mormons out here. Really, I'd rather be moving back to Germany. I think when my husband retires, we're going to try to get him a contractor gig.

Yeah... it would piss me off to see mishies in the PX, too. Military folks aren't supposed to buy stuff for civilians, even if it's for poor mishies. It happens, though. When we were in Germany, American civilians would try to get military folks to buy them stuff like peanut butter at the commissary or mail stuff through APO for them. Technically, that's not really allowed. My husband

Yeah, it was really weird. Happened in 1996, when I was a Peace Corps Volunteer. They rang the bell and I opened the door and they started talking about God in Armenian. I told them in Armenian that I didn't understand. They switched to Russian, which I don't speak or understand at all. They asked which language and I said in Armenian, "English". They said in Armenian, "Diffi

It never fails! Wherever we've lived, except when we lived on an Army post, we have ALWAYS been visited at least once by the JWs. I even got visits from the JWs when I lived in Armenia and Germany. The funny thing is, we live way out in the woods, where no one bugs us. Today, it was two well dressed women. One of them started giving me her spiel, talking about the government and why I shou

Her blog is called The Beagley Bunch, but it is now only viewable by invited readers. I think she's been getting a lot of harassment.

Thankfully, I'm a nevermo, so I was never subjected to 3 hours of church and all the other church related BS... Okay, as a kid I was subjected to the Presbyterians, which is a pretty benign group. My husband the exmo, on the other hand, is loving his free Sundays full of brewing beer and making love.

I was 13 years old, living in Virginia, and in 8th grade. The day the Challenger blew up, I was home from school because we'd had a snow/ice storm. When Columbia blew up, I was 30 years old and living in Virginia. As I recall, we had a lot of snow and ice that day, too.
