It's been a long time since it but that's an interesting tidbit. I wonder if Michener was bent about the Mormon influence in Hawaii. a place he was very fond of? Ron Burr

I was asked to stand in the circle at both of my parents death beds while they were given blessings. In the case of my Mom, Dad initiated it but when he was near death one of his friends asked if he could offer a blessing. More out of respect for this man, our former bishop who I love dearly to this day and the fact I loved my father dearly, I agreed. I felt nothing during or after each ceremony,

I sent my resignation in by email on Aug, 27. I got a letter from Morg. HQ dated Aug. 29. It didn't get here until about 2 weeks later. In it they stated that my resignation was a local matter and that my"bishop and stake prez" would be informed of my resignation and would contact me. Nothing yet, but I did state in my letter that I wanted no contact with local church admin. about it. S

Stella is a fine beer. But, in my experience with drinking beer in Canada, the USA, Germany, Austria, Hungary and Serbia, the finest beer I have ever drank is Spessart and Specht Räuberchen schwarz brewed in Kreuzwertheim, Bavaria. It was damn near a religious experience. Wish it was exported to N. America. Ron Burr

Lazy, I've been inactive since 1971 and never discussed anything about the church with my folks. Dad was EQP, then HP, then HC and Mom was ward RSP. So I don't know what they ever did in the temple and what qualifies you for a second anointing. I've never researched it because I was never interested in finding out...and I hadn't heard of it until I found this site. Ron Burr

Well, I'm 64 now and have been a beer drinker since age 16. Locally I like most of what Big Rock has to offer and my son, who lives in Camrose has introduced me to some of the offerings from Alleycat. I also enjoy the Winter Ale from Granville Island (Vancouver) and Mount Begbie Brewery in Revelstoke, B.C. (Powerhouse Ale, Atilla the Honey Ale). And being close to Montana we go down there on beer

A Stake Prez, who treated his adopted son like a second class person, and then was troubled when the kid took to partying and carrying on like a normal teenager.....and turned the whole family against him...unforgivable. Ron Burr ps: I was adopted. I was raised with love and respect and never for a minute thought my parents didn't love me more than life itself.

If he indeed has Alzheimer's, he and especially his family, have my sympathy. Regardless of what I think of him personally, it's an evil that no one deserves to have visited on them. That being said, the man always gave me the creeps. I first encountered him in about 1962 or 3 in Edmonton at a youth conference. He was a newly minted apostle and was treated like a rock star by the gathered throng.

I don't even know what the "second anointing" is? I suppose I could have looked it up ...if I actually gave a $hit... Ron Burr ps: my folks were regular temple attenders (Cardston and bunch of others all over the world) but they never told me anything about it.

The fact that one old geezer HP, who was Dad's cattle buyer and friend, has ,ever since Dad passed away in 2000, taken it upon himself to call every time something is going on in the ward or stake and invite me and my Catholic wife to it. Every time general conference is near, he calls to remind me of it and to make sure I know that the priesthood session is on Saturday night. I don't not know if

No. For years I've made it known that I didn't want my funeral, if one is held at all, in an LDS church. I would prefer a graveside service followed by a good Irish wake.....with lots of good booze and fine food. Ron Burr

Yes...me. I used the form available on this site, filled it out and e-mailed it in. Nothing back for about 5 weeks. Then I got a letter in the mail from Cult HQ telling me that my resigning was a local matter? and that I would be referred to the bishop and stake president of the ward I live in. That was a couple weeks ago and so far nothing, but I did state in my resignation that I wanted no cont
