My dad never expressed an interest (at least not to me) of any desire to serve in any calling after they retired. He served as EQP and on HC and mom was ward RSP. Glad they stayed home.

My instructor was somewhat taken aback when I challenged him on Kolob. I told him such a planet didn't exist....and then I walked out of the class...never to return. Loved that extra hour of sleep.

The fact a cult with $150B requires their missionaries to fund their own missions and then instills in them a culture where nose to the grindstone/not telling anyone with authority you're ill/PH blessings are a first line of treatment is pure evil.

Two of my family docs served medical missions. One in Mongolia and one in S Africa. I was told they were there to serve the medical needs of missionaries in the field. Someone drop the ball in this instance?...or the cult not wanting to pay the shot for hospitalization?

My late wife got sucked into an MLM once....and talked a few others into it...and I was the grouchy curmudgeon/party pooper who she didn't want to hear anything negative from about the scheme/scam....until it all went to hell and I had my I told you so moment.

I enjoyed the 4 summer scout camps in the Rockies....but not much else about scouting. I had no success at tying knots...lol...among other things...and that whole taking orders deal woulda led to abject failure had I ever gone on a mission or been in the armed services.

My dad paid thousands...probably hundreds of thousands of dollars in tithing over his lifetime, but after being taken to the cleaners and bankrupted in a real estate deal by a member of a prominent Lethbridge Mormon family there wasn't much left when he died...and no mention of the church in his will.
