Thanks for all of the responses. I'm still in my happy place this morning. Looking forward to a life without that black suitcase with its reproachful stare from the closet.

I have to admit, my smile dimmed a bit when my car wouldn't start at quitting time. But I'm back in my happy place now!

Hi Susie, I read somewhere, maybe a poster here said "It's like taking off a thick wool coat on a summer day." That says it all.

Yes, there are some reasons to keep them, but they don't equal the the mental burden that has been lifted.

Yesterday I threw out my temple clothing. Since my shelf fell with Prop 8 in 2008, I have shed many of the trappings of mormonism. I quit wearing garments, stopped accepting callings, stopped going to sunday school and priesthood meeting. Those have been replaced by worship at the Church of Home Depot and meditation/naps in the car while waiting for DW. After all of that, I couldn't bring myse

I was recently on a desert camping trip for three days. Three days of a hat, shoes and some sunscreen. I'm converted! I forgot to mention the campfire, nudity, full moon and alchohol.

My HP group leader asked me why I haven't been to a sunday meeting in over two years. My reply: "Because the lessons have been the same for 30 years. There's a different guy on the cover, but the lesson content is the same. Tell me what week it is and I'll tell you what the lesson will be. That tells me the church has nothing new to offer. And anything I thought I wanted or needed I got yea

Proposition 8 in California. At any given moment my own life is barely in control. I'm supposed to run around and tell other people how to live theirs? My philosophy is pretty simple. I want to be able to live my life the way I want to. And I demand that for everyone else.

You know "that guy" who is consistently one or two bullet points behind the discussion? We were all hoping someone would take him away.

In our ward its: 1. Primary kids 2. sketchy investigators 3. elderly sisters Once in a while a mom will give her son or daughters missionary report. Very rarely a brother aside from the missionaries, and they are rare too.

In our ward its a peer pressure thing. The kids make a pact with each other in their seminary class. Nobody wants to be the class member who doesn't go on a mission.

On a 70 degree overcast CA winter day I watched 3 busy body teenagers break into a pickup to "rescue" a dog crying for its owner. They reached through the cracked open window, opened the door and the dog bolted. The owner walked up, found out what happened and called the police. The teenagers were outraged becuase they thought they had done a good deed. The owner said "You brok

Except for Judah and Esther riding a horse wearing J Crew shirts and skinny jeans, I didn't think it was all that bad. I thought the characters had more layers. For instance, Masala wasn't just a tough administrator who turned on his friend. He understood he had to be tough to keep his job. Just my 2 cents. It was different, not necessarily bad.
