They'll be attached to news clips, special issues at check-out stands, etc., commemorating people of note who died in 2023. RfM could have an on-going thread to note and discuss such passings, rather than start a fresh one every time. Title it, "Deaths and Passings," or something. If somebody of interest to you dies, you could add it to the bottom with your own thoughts and feelings.

So bishops have sufficient ecclesiastical status to be exempt from mandatory reporting laws? Also, is there much variation among the states? Lastly, what other LDS officials have this? I'm wondering about 1st and 2nd counselors.

He fled his native Romania for Sweden, wound up in France with an arrest (or charging) record in all three countries. Nauvoo, Missouri, and Utah do not apparently factor in to the Movement for Spiritual Integration into the Absolute (MISA), later rebranded "Atman Yoga Federation." * The usual: spiritual advancement if you'll just spread your legs, honey. By the way, I have a few friend

Notably, a tank group commanded by a woman (link, below): "Yated was spared the worst of the October 7 carnage, according to local farmer Shai Avraham, thanks in part to a vigilant female tank commander from a nearby base who decided to fire upon a group of Hamas terrorists who were lurking near the community. She killed most of them, and while a few persisted in their attack, others fled

Kissinger's Birthday is (was?) May 27, 1923. And thanks, dagny--perhaps the nicest thing I've heard here in a while. We Cassandras aren't known for making (or keeping) friends. That, or maybe my Asperger's.

Love sought, lost, pursued, enjoyed, longed for. Kind of like what they say about women: Can't live with 'em, or without 'em.

I want to see him stretch his hands out to his side while standing on one foot (his choice), close his eyes, then touch the tip of his nose with each index finger. (Middle finger = flunking the test) I spent Friday showing apartments to students who can't afford them, but will take out more debt anyway. A major university has been over-accepting and the kids are desperate!

I was leaving the auditorium's middle door into the central hallway, sort of a chokepoint, and it was clogged with chatting 20-somethings, maybe some teens. I had to worm (pun intended) my way through. Two thoughts occurred to me: 1) Wow--we've got lot of young adults--and on a mid-week service, too. 2) Gosh, they're TALL! Hardly a month goes by without a bridal or baby shower, or an engagem

Finish high school, and complete either college or a legitimate trades program or apprenticeship. Don't get in trouble with the law. Stay away from drugs and heavy drinking. Don't become a parent out of wedlock, or before 21, and whatever happens to you in life, you will probably avoid poverty.

And sure enough, there were jokes about it miraculously stopping bullets. (Never heard a serious "faith-building" anecdote, though.) Two jokes about stopping bullets. One, I've read here and elsewhere: "I heard Brother Ammon's Book of Mormon stopped a bullet!" "How deep did it go?" "As far as Alma." "Figures--nobody can get through Alma."

We called them "operations." Nowadays, the term is likely to be (military) "mission." But just think: what if missionaries were given boxes of C-Rations to subsist on? Recruitment, I mean, "calls" would plummet, but those who undertake a mission would become really hardened dudes.

And feed it every paycheck. More than a few times I've read people's bemoaning the money they put into tithing for decades. Well, take that 10% and invest it. $6500, fed with $541.67 each month (or $125/week/paycheck), growing at a modest 8.5% annually, will yield $2,337,355 after 40 years. Another thought: Mentally imagine yourself ten years from now. You're "40." At this mid-life p

Before going out on a mission, the boxes would be opened and turned upside down, so you couldn't identify the better ones. What you grabbed is what you ate, like it or not. A few were especially nasty: ham & eggs (looked and tasted like canned dog food), pork & rice, and the worst: Ham and lima beans, nicknamed "ham and mother-------s." In gooey syrup. I'd draw those, like we
