Well, it's been more than the requisite year since James J. Hamula was excommunicated. He should now be ready for rebaptism. Any updates?

It's the result of the following premises: 1. If you're living the Gospel you will be rewarded with blessings. 2. If you're not living the Gospel, you're doing evil. 3. Avoid the very appearance of evil. I'll leave it to you to draw the inference.

In the book "Catch 22" there is, at a certain army camp, a loyalty-oath crusade. People are asked to sign loyalty oaths. It goes crazy with people needing to sign loyalty oaths before they can get served in the mess hall. Then it spirals out of control until finally separate loyalty oaths are required to get your main dish, your side dish, your drink, etc. Mormonism is l

Way back during the open house for the Provo temple our ward's Elders Quorum was scheduled in as ushers. So I'm standing there with one of the other guys in the ward--I know his name but that's about it ("hi, how do you do"). So as we're standing there he starts talking to me about his very low sperm-count, and how he's been to doctors yadda yadda. I'm thinking to myself,

The gospel brings JOY into our lives. If we exhibit a lack of OY then we're obviously not living the gospel. So make it a rule to NEVER exhibit a lack of JOY to anyone.

A close reading of Abraham 3: 2-3 seems to indicate that the earth is a "star": "2 And I saw the STARS, that they were very great, and that one of them was nearest unto the throne of God; and there were many great ones which were near unto it; "3 And the Lord said unto me: These are the governing ones; and the name of the great one is Kolob, because it is near un

Gee, could it possibly be that religious training starting at an early age that sex is evil, or that masturbation is a "sin next to murder" have anything to do with it? Just wondering.

If anyone ever had any doubts about LDS being a cult, Dallin Oak's statement about how the demographics change (with many young men jumping ship) means many young women will have to settle for being single in life should settle the issue. Basically he's saying, "if you can't find a good, TR-holding Mormon to marry, stay single and childless your whole life." The possibilit

Hey, it could happen to anyone. Besides what if it's your first car with an e-brake so you're not used to it yet; and what if you're in a store parking lot that LOOKS level. Besides so

I once attended the annual congregational meeting of a local Presbyterian Church. One of the things they did was pass out a sheet of paper with annual stats on it (including a financial breakdown of the congregation's finances). The meeting was open to anyone who walked in. One of the stats on the handout was the number of members dropped from the congregation because of not attend

Sit down with them and be SUPER receptive and SUPER enthusiastic about their "message." Hijack the whole event with your over- the-top positive (but verging on insane) response to their message.

So suppose this goes to trial; and suppose his defense is that God really told him to cut his girlfriend's head off. Suppose further that the trial is held in Utah. Then the whole courtroom and Jury box will be filled with people who firmly believe that God told Nephi to cut Laban's head off while he slept. So why won't they consider that maybe, just maybe, God really DID tell this
