I think the one "lacking in spirit" is Ole Crusty Rusty. And, when he does smile or make an attempt at doing so, it appears forced and fake because his demeanor most always is pompous, ornery, sterile, stern, and indignant.

This is funny. I like to add that the monkeys were happily smiling.

Years ago, near Vernal area somewhere or other, we drove over and heard the disgusting continual crunching sound of "Mormon crickets" meeting their doom. It seemed to go on forever, many, many miles at least, but who knows how long in actuality it was because it was such a horrific sound even heard with car windows rolled up. Why didn't we drown it out with loud music? Hell, I do

My big red flag was the very disappointing temple ceremony. Seriously, this event was so not what the sales force advertised it to be AT ALL. Was it spiritual? Hardly. Was it boring, juvenile, insulting, comical, while also being abusive, manipulative and threatening? Yesiree. Did it appear man-made stupidity? Yup. Did it insult me? You bet. I was attending university and

Wow....I had no idea that a "dress" code really existed in terms of what one wears when going to the temple. I had no one give me instructions as to how I should dress nor had I seen anyone dressed for such an occasion. I think I just surmised that "Sunday dress" would be the requirement. I was the first in my immediate family to head to the temple and the agenda was both

So agree. I think it's only fair to give them a taste of what they give others. Be relentless with a smile on your face right back in their face. I'm sure the bishop is beside himself with the prospect of someone like you...a real live person who does not have the usual characteristics of a needy-down-on-their-luck potential member.

Very fun, creative and interesting comments. My thoughts have returned to this beautiful, young, naive couple several times today, wondering and wishing I knew their thoughts and mind as they sat through their temple session, most likely because I myself found the temple so weird and so threatening. I only attended a measly few times after my initial first thrust into this 'supposedly MOST

Must men wear the proverbial white shirt, tie and suit, only to shove said clothing in a small locker erasing all signs of being wrinkle free? Do women ever appear at the temple door in dress slacks or would said temple door fail to open? Is there an earring check to weed out any uncompliant ears? These important questions came to mind after seeing a very young couple dressed in Sunday-b

And keep in mind that not any ole seerstone will do.....it must first of all be one that you steal, oh excuse me, borrow from your seering neighbor, be of a rather mundane brown hue with just the right swirls in it, plus be capable of sitting quietly in the church vault gathering a thick layer of grime and dust, not bothering a single soul. THEN.....drop it in said hat, and voila you are ready

I'd like to chime in with my own quick synopsis of the BOM. A sleazy, yet charismatic con artist Joseph Smith, Jr. (with the given and stolen aid of others' words and assistance), created the blasay Book of Mormon with the intent of finding marks gullible enough to fall for his scheme of naming himself, "The Restoration Prophet of God". Farm work he detested....but hurting and cheat

In my not-so-humble-opinion Rusty is a piss-poor-actor who continually plays the role of the oh-so-caring prophet whether he's exhorting the destitute Africans to pay their tithing so they will be blessed with wealth or pretending to care about the gays. How does a prophet have two revelations that are opposites (as the two dealing with the gays)? And, has the church bothered to apologize at

The cult can guilt members into this so-called-bonding-with-the-pioneers, making said members feel this is also a must to show respect. I believe some of the thinking is, "If the brave pioneers can do it, why so can I." By the way, who doesn't think the pioneers would have hopped on the nearest airplane if it had been an option?

If anything, the cult is constant....constantly stupid. Oh well, let them be. Let them, like when Ballard recently, emphatically stated that the church has never hidden any information. What??? Say that again, Ballard and he did. To the youth who, after the meeting, had their handy fact-checkers in their hands and could double check, and triple check, what Ballard had blirted.

The words of Richard Scott in GC are dispicable, plus the tone of his voice and his judging facial expression creates a package of satan himself standing at the podium. A church that would let this message be delivered is anything but kind and loving of people and what they experience. Thanks for posting this site as I am glad I was able to hear Scott present this "loving" message

Yet another example of how cruel and evil it is of the church to ingrain in children, very young children, how the church expects them and encourages them to serve missions while they are still children. Missions should be served by ADULTS, AND ONLY ADULTS who are old enough to have studied and decided that this is something they sincerely WANT TO DO. LDS Youth Missions are just one of the

Completely agree. These facts did it for me. PLUS....the book is soooooooooo damn boring. Over and over and over there are wars and rumors of wars and then.....over and over and over there are people who cause wars and rumors of wars and,,,,,,yep, then it all starts.... all over again. Yikes. A Nursery Rhyme has more to offer....over and over again.

A cult that is so afraid to let the youth have fun is causing what is happening to the young people, questions and disaffection, to which I say, "Keep it up. Keep it up." The cult leaders care only about THEIR life of ease and plenty, of course, lying continually that they love the youth and want them to have a wonderful life. The GREAT thing is that the intelligent tech-savy-you

So, sooo sorry about the deleted post. Just pray that it does not ruin the whole day that is before you, nor that you take it tooo personally (maybe a little, but going beyond that into that other zone is not necessary...but here I digress). This deletion stuff is what makes the world run (according to the Big M anyways). Like in, how could the cult of Mormonism operate if it did not tell

So enjoyed your post, and I do remember reading some of your previous posts. HAPPY, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, and may you have many more. Here's a toast to the good, the bad, and the really bad of the MormonCult. May the cult fade away on a cold, dreary, stormy night, reminiscent of the cold dreariness created by its lies, greed, and evil indoctrination.

I send kudos for your daring to share your feelings and express your truth which the MormonCult has dictated you MUST not talk about. You have taken a big, a very big first step. Finding a voice to me is the beginning of a journey of recovery. Many years ago, I finally was able to take a stand, to know and say what I was feeling about a subject which I had been taught was way off limits a

I agree that indifference is like you are invisable, being a ghost that no one sees. In my situation, my Mom gave birth to a boy two years after me......A BOY, A MAN AT LAST! He got positive attention, surprisingly even once in a while from my Dad who wanted a boy so badly. It stung for me to be around. Infact, my brother was pampered and spoiled in lots of ways as he was the one who got the

I'm with you there. I've wondered to. One of my best school friends, we still talk about twice a week and go places together, and I feel so fortunate she is in my life. Her home was a very loving, FUN, AND PEACEFUL HOME. I remember the first time we hung out at her house when we were freshmen in high school. I was there at lunch time and her Mom fixed us this amazing lunch that looked

Yes, awareness of other cultures and religions help to give you perspective on your own. You realize that religion and myth are a window into human psychology but not necessarily into "truth." I had some of that growing up, more than many Mormon children, I think, and it has been very valuable". I enjoyed the way you phrased these thoughts. I agree wholeheartedly that some ch

Refreshing to discover new friendships and find common interests. I am happy for you Amyjo and do hope that this friendship can develop and grow. I had two step-sisters who were much older than myself. They were both good people who reached out to build a relationship with my mother and us when my mom was a single mom after my, and their father, passed away. They lived hours away and my mom
