I can tell that you’re more studious (and likely smarter) than your typical Mormon. The only exposure that most Mormons have to Isaiah is a glassy-eyed scan of certain pages in 2 Nephi.

Unfortunately, I bought the bull....excrement. I thought people left because they were offended, and later they sought doctrinal reasons to justify their decision.

I don't know why, or how, or from whom, but as of this year, I have a subscription to the Ensign. This particular issue made an uninterrupted trip from my mailbox to the recycle bin.

Well, the BoM itself resembles something left in a cat's litter box.

I am absolutely certain that the Super Bowl is not fixed for three reasons: 1) it would be virtually impossible to do so, 2) the NFL would have no incentive to do so, and plenty of incentive to not do so, and 3) there is no credible evidence that it has ever happened. 1) In order to fix the game, you’d need the cooperation of two owners, dozens of coaches, more than a hundred players, game (

Thomas Monson being a true prophet of god is much more likely than the Super Bowl being rigged.

Move a mountain? Hell, Jesus couldn't even reveal the "truth" of the BoM to me, no matter how many times I read it, no matter how much faith I had, and no matter how many times I prayed.

Last night, I was cornered by a man who threatened me with a knife. He told me that he would slit my throat if I didn’t reveal unto him the first token of the Melchizedek priesthood, or sign of the nail, with its accompanying name and sign. Was I frightened? Of course I was, but I saw this as a teachable moment. I calmly explained to him that if he was going to threaten to slit my throat, he

"A Word of Wisdom, for the benefit of the council of high priests, assembled in Kirtland, and the church, and also the saints in Zion--To be sent greeting; not by commandment or constraint" D&C 89:1-2 NOT a commandment.

I didn't give up on god because I left mormonism, I left mormonism because I gave up on god. The concept that was, for me, completely unacceptable is the idea of eternal judgment. Infinite reward or infinite punishment for anything that is done, or not done, in a finite life is completely unfair, unjust, and infinitely immoral.

More than 50 years for me. For almost all of those years, I couldn't even imagine leaving the LDS church.

Yes, it is more enlightening, more friendly, and a hell of a lot more pleasant, than the temple.

I worry. Is my navel healthy? Is there marrow in my bones? Are my loins and sinews as strong as they need to be?

When it comes to David and Solomon, all I know for sure is that their many wives and concubines were an abomination before God (Jacob 2:24) or maybe God was cool with it (D&C 132:38).

"So many questions without good answers!" That pretty much sums up Mormonism.

Time. I want the two years that I spent going door-to-door trying to talk to people who didn’t want to hear me. I want the weekends and evenings that I spent trying home teach people who didn’t want to be home taught. I want back the time I spent in bishopric meetings, ward council meetings, correlation meetings, auxiliary training meetings, meetings, meetings, and more meetings.

The Race and the Priesthood essay includes the claim “The structure and organization of the Church encourage racial integration.” And yet, at a talk at BYU, “prophet, seer, and revelator” Mark E. Petersen said “The Lord segregated the people both as to blood and place of residence. At least in the cases of the Lamanites and the Negroes we have the definite word of the Lord Himself that

Hey, we can't expect Joe to remember the date when he was busy remembering everything that was said to him (including Old Testament passages). Plus, it's hard to remember trivial details like date and time when you don't "remember" anything about the incident for 18 years or so.

Wow, the LDS church must be seriously insecure to have someone from their worldwide headquarters respond (within hours) to a letter to the editor of a local newspaper. That's messed up.

I'd like to think that I have no irrational fears when it comes to TSCC, but.....a couple of years ago, I took my garments and put them in a black plastic garbage bag. Your story reminded me that I still haven't thrown that bag away. Trash day is next Tuesday.

The WoW is one of many examples of TSCC insisting on rigid compliance of a vague and ever-changing doctrine.

Spirituality = living in the moment. Religion = repenting of the past and fearing the future. I don't need a religion or a god to be spiritual--in fact, those things get in the way.
