Oh, they're very happy with the "bleeding the beast" mentality. Especially if it helps the corporation. Depressing, I know, but, what do you expect from cult members?

Obviously it doesn't, it only helps the corporation. But that's not the angle they are seeing it from. They are happy to think the corporation is getting something over on the government. Also, all that money is for Jesus when he gets here, so win win situation for them. They don't care about the harm tithing does to families and local communities. One of my pet peeves about tithing is the s

I can guarantee that were I to bring this topic up with any of my TBM conservative republican extended family, their response would be "Good for the Church! They're being smart. Taxes are just theft and the gubmint is trying to steal more money from us!" I don't think they will vote for Ammon Bundy, but, the predominance of this type of thinking is why his ilk has been allowed to f

I agree with you Dagny. Crapo's ads irritate me every time I hear them on the radio (same with Erdhart, ugh!). I did early voting already and voted straight Democrat just to add some diversity to the mix (nuisance value). I'm sure the same old career politicians will win, but, it's nice to hope. There may be more people thinking like me, who knows.

Exactly! I think they put on the appearance of not wanting extremists, but, in reality they know they need these cult minded people to keep paying the money. They have been preaching end of the world since day one to keep the members fears stoked and scared people are easier to manipulate. To rid itself of the extremists, they would need to change their doctrine. Speaking of extreme, my siste

I don't know if it's being pushed in church or not, but, I can tell you that I have plenty of Mormon family that are storing up food like crazy. It may have more to do with end of the world fears though. Cuz you know, Jeebus is gonna be here any minute now, and the libtards are taking our country to hell in a handbasket! Ugh...I hate my family sometimes.

"I was told that either all these fossils happened in the last 7,000 years, mostly during Noah’s flood, or the fossils came from another planet, the scraps of which were used to make earth." I was told the same thing. Didn't make sense to me either so I just put it on the proverbial shelf.

I've heard the "deep doctrine" that earth is just one of the many planets that Jesus sacrificed for, we just got lucky to be on the one that he actually lived on. So, his world tour may have been a universe tour as well. Wonder if he shows up in the Book of Boba Fett as well?

True, however, it's good to see at least some people are still trying to get it passed. I doubt the Mormon theocracy would approve. Although, I have talked with several Mormons that agree it should be a legal choice, but they will revert to whatever the corporation tells them to do.

I'm glad to see this happening. I've never understood how the government has control over your personal decision of life or death. I don't know how I would feel in her circumstances, but, I would definitely want the freedom to choose. From the article: "But in Utah, it is against the law for a doctor to prescribe medications that would end a patient’s life. The Legislature gets to

Closer to home, the Idaho Freedom Foundation is gaining political power. They are pushing their extremist Christian agenda. No book-burning yet...yet. https://theidahofreedomfoundation.org/

I know a guy that seemed happily married. Very Mormon, had kids, worked to support his wife and kids. Saw him at the grocery store and he told me his wife left him for a woman. He was pretty devastated. Haven't heard from him lately so I"m not sure how he's doing now. I think our society is less accepting of gay men than lesbians, so if a married man comes out as gay people react diff

https://www.idahostatesman.com/living/religion/article234032717.html This is an old article from October, didn't realize until I read it. lol The church declared caffeinated soda and hot chocolate OK in 2012, but this article is saying: "Whether it’s cold brew, lattes, Frappuccinos or some other Starbucks concoction, it’s pretty much all against the gospel, the church says.&quo

Indoctrination from day one is difficult to overcome for some and nearly impossible for others. I always laugh when I hear a Mormon say that the church does so much good in the world (aid sent to Tonga). They completely disregard the suffering and pain and death it causes, which far out weighs any good it does.

I wish marijuana was legal in Idaho (not that I would use it), but when you have Mormons running your state government intent on forcing you to live their religion, it's not likely to happen anytime soon.

"I put myself through school working at a gas station." Those days of being able to put yourself through school working at a gas station have disappeared long ago. I still remember them though. lol I worked as a waiter for years, and I agree, people can be horrible, as can employers taking advantage of the cheap labor.

"If Polynesians descend from Nephites, why did they end up turning dark-skinned?" Excellent question, but, Mormons are taught not to question. I suspect their answer would be that we don't need to know that for our salvation, so, just look the other way and pay more tithing. That fragile little testimonkey can be killed off ever so easily by logical thinking. Can't have that.

I'm sorry for your loss Tevai. My sister in Utah was just diagnosed with Covid. They gave her an infusion so hopefully she will recover, but, it's still too soon to tell.

I don't usually listen to podcasts, but, I saw this link shared by a family member and decided to listen. While it's on the Mormon Stories platform, it's just mostly these three ladies talking about their experiences growing up as a Native in the Mormon church. I found it riveting. I also learned something that I didn't know, that officially, the Pacific Islanders are considered more righ

"If the IRS were to prevent the mormon church from owning any non-related (to the organization's mission) businesses,..." Well, since their mission is to create a financial empire so they can rule the world when Christ returns (lol), they wouldn't need to change a thing.

I, and most Mormons I grew up with, didn't get the memo. As late as 2010, in a temple rec interview, I was asked about obeying the WoW, specifically no coffee or tea. Hmmm Back in the 1980's, had an aunt that lost her temple rec because they found out she was drinking coffee and she refused to stop drinking it. It wasn't just over zealous bishops, it was taught (and enforced) in church (and
