It doesn't matter if it's the Temple Lot, the Temple Mount, or the Holy Sepulchre. It's the same thing: people fighting over turf in the name of their god, deity, or whatever. In reality, it's humans using religion as an excuse to subjugate other humans. Makes no difference if you pretend or claim you are doing it in the name of some "god" or religion. This just one example.

Religion is in decline in America. What has replaced it? Tribalism. What passes for "faith" amongst so-called "evangelicals" (not true Christians like Jimmy Carter) nowadays is a toxic mix of racism, patriarchy, hubris, dominionism, radical exclusionism, and blind obedience to authority based on deep-seated fears from childhood myths. ################### Cons

in theology. This was new. Before this you could claim it was just human failing, folklore, or a different or erroneous interpretation of the Bible (i.e. Southern Baptists), but not theological. JS and BY went a step further with the "fence sitters in the War In Heaven" story. Here's the "we can enslave people who aren't Catholic" argument that turned into "w

I've read about life in pre-Civl War Utah. They were on the edge of civilization. The well off wagon train had things they wanted. It was simple land piracy, theft, kidnapping, and murder.

EVs used to condemn Mormonism, but they don't any more. Why? Theological and doctrinal differences take a back seat to tribalism.

https://www.vice.com/en/article/43ggk3/mountain-dew-sperm-count-rumor The year was 1999 and teenage boys were under a spell cast by Mountain Dew. Rumors flew that one of the very popular soda's synthetic food dyes decreased sperm count; as a result, some sexually-active teens began binge-drinking the alleged spermicide as their only form of birth control. That year, the rumor gained so much tr

Mormon and EV college friends had weird gaps in knowledge that never seemed to make sense. Lots of books and movies that were common knowledge they didn't know about. I don't agree with book bans. If something is controversial and needs parental permission, fine, but closing off knowledge only closes minds. Think about how stereotypes are maintained from one generation to the next.

People were scammed and abused by another fake shaman and grifter, but the group wasn't seemingly founded as an exclusive same sex cult. Also seems to have the same kind of faux prophecies and tithing business investment scam as Mormonism and the control and harassment tactics of Scientology. ########## https://www.appeal-democrat.com/news/lawsuit-filed-against-yuba-county-cult/article
