My ex lived in new york, finalizing her master's degree, while I lived in Arizona during our engagement. She was a convert. My bishop said the lord told him that we were to wait until she was a member for a year (a few more months), then marry in the temple. Her bishop in NY told her that she should marry civilly, then a year later in the temple so would would not "mess up".

Yes. There is always a new hashtag, a new program, a new assignment, a new family to visit, a new temple wedding to attend, a new challenge to read, fast or pray. A new challenge to accept some newly declared chicken-soup-for-the-soul nonsense as a life creed.

Thank you for sharing that. It is never enough as a second class citizens women have it worse. With no recognized hierarchy, like the proesthood, gossip, cliques, envy, feelings of inadequacy and jealousy fill the gaps of what should be a rewarding and uplifting experience.

The only way Rusty is going to cry over angels is if someone kicks him in the tender mercies. The church has made a decisive move to stay away from truth claims and revelation move into the "inspired" wording category. Angels will soon be (and will, therefore will retroactive have always been) symbolic of blah blah blah, not literal angels.

Not that it is any of your business but it proves my point. She is my ex now. After 9 lost pregnancies and endless blessings, pleading with the lord, fasting and even general authority promises, it turns out we needed a better doctor. Had 3 kids with her all safe, smart and non-Mormon, the oldest married w 2 kids the other two in college/HS and living with me away from Utah.

One of the issues that took me years to correct after leaving Mormonism is the skewed perspective, anxiety and stress that the Mormon lifestyle installs in member's lives. I was always overwhelmed, reacting to the next 3 things I was supposed to do. At age 23 I was the EQP of ward of 400+ people, doing visits, calls, temple trips, camping, volunteering, cleaning the chapel, reading and praying

The Mormonism that Mormons love. The beliefs, stories, doctrines, and history are no longer taught. It is being deleted and denied. It is not doctrinal. It is not in the manuals or the apologetic mealy-mouthed essays. The books are no longer in print. The BOM is quickly being downgraded to fan fiction, the POGP is now inspired and no one knows what the words "translated from ancient Egyptian

The new version of Mormonism makes people discussing their revelations, doctrine and teachings look like fools: Mormonism just needs you to stop talking and just listen to the still small voice, the undertone to every talk, message and recent book: The doctrine is this; the church is true, so just keep paying and listening to this message, that is what makes it true. In one shape or anot

I grew up in catholic schools. One of the many teachings that I found profound in that religion was the emphasis on sins of omission. I remember the priest emphasizing that these types of sins determined our character and what kind of a person we would become. I see the Pope revisit many of the same ideas in his speeches and I am glad that so many people have reacted to this message. Some are cal

So true. I have a friend that has a junker jeep liberty that can hardly run a day without breaking down. He assure me its trail rated. It is the same with Mormons they make these imaginary badges, like good wife, good husbands, faithful member, mission worthy, temple worthy, returned missionary, endowed, tithe paying, spiritual giant, bishop material, Mormon royalty, pioneer stock etc none of the

We don't let our kids play with them. These Mormon latchkey kids just show up in people's yards. Its not a huge problem, just that the parents are so clueless and the disparity between how they see the world and reality is enormous.

We did, in a way. They saw our Utah plates when we moved here and they saw us drinking wine at the neighborhood party. I though they were going to cry.

I live in Washington state. We have a group of kids in the neighborhood that play together 6-11. They are all well behaved. Except for the 4 Mormon kids in the group. Coincidently their parents are under the impression that their kids are the role models of the group and the best behaved. Parents: the church does not raise good kids for you, it only raises kids who can sit still in a tie or dr

One thing my dad learned about working for them was that for every dollar they donated, they spend 3-4 times that amount in publicity for it. They wont even donate a day's worth of interest on their enormous fortune to help the hungry, needy, sick and destitute. No wonder other churches don't consider them christian.

Following GC, the LDS leadership announced that the church is donating 2 billion dollars to help single mom's around the world pay their bills until the pandemic is over. They are donating 1.5 billion to help make masks and other medical PPE. Missionaries are to help disinfect and help deliver groceries to the poor and needy. Just kidding. They just waived their handkerchief to signal ju

I'm not talking about gas lighting. Im talking about, up front misrepresenting what they are doing. Yes gas-lighting is a foundational doctrine of the church. Bit they also misrepresent everything they do, THEN they tell you it did not happen.

Nothing infuriates me more than a church that has made an empire of money, tears, dead bodies and heartbreaks through lies, suddenly making claims of being misrepresented. There is a special kind of abuse that the church is built on an that is "misrepresentation". The entire set up is thrust upon unsuspecting victims without proper consent. When you joined, did you know about

I think that is symbolic: after their entire effort to "restore" the original church away from what Rome did with it, they return to be accepted.

I stand, with my mercies fully tendered, at the mistakes Nelson offers me. Confused at the nonsense he prophets me, I tremble to know that I once took this guy seriously. Oh, it is wonderful that he should care for me, enough to lie to me. Nelson, in his diving stumbling, he has gotten THE church so much closer to the truth. In fact, with his might lighted pen, his nosy wife, and his propensit

There is a place in my heart that glows with contentment on sabbath. It starts when I see a Mormon I know at the store on Sunday. The Spirit fills me with unspeakable contentment when I realize that they are trying to avoid making eye contact and, almost in a supernatural rapture I chase them down and talk to them. I am not fluent in the Adanic language so let the king's English, in its lim

My father worked for the church construction department in the 80's. Temples are a way for stakeholders to receive dividends. If you research who the contractors are, it is always leadership-owned comanies like Zwigg (the 70), and others that hold shell companies (Romneys, MCKonckies, Farnsworths, Oaks, etc). They launder millions and get paid as members gush about the new temples and it

SO true and since the new guy came in it is both: a sign of the end times and that it is true! Last night my wife and I were discussing this gain after my comment and she told me she got a raise she has deserved for years. My response was that we need to get our maps to Missouri updated, the end is near!

Sign-seeking has become 30% of what keeps these people in. ANYTHING is proof that it is TRUE! My wife and I have an ongoing joke every time something happens: I got upgraded to first class! she responds: the church is true a Gap store closed near our house, I say: the final days are here! it's funny and sad that to distract themselves from the cognitive dissonance, they turn their

He will give us planets, except now days, that not only changed now, but all previously awarded plants were repossessed. Native Americans were cursed with dark skins up until 2005ish, after that they weren't, it was just their skin color. Blacks were cursed and did not go to heaven since they did not get married in the temple, but after the 1970's they went to heaven. Polygamy was an et

Exactly. If they want to say that God called to say no beards? odd but fine. But of he said you get a planet and now you dont, or you get more than one wife and now no one knows, then its is clearly a symptom of men making it u as they go along. As I told a member recently: If prophets are infallible except when they make mistakes when they are mere men, they we are all prophets and there is n
