Tell them. I am the product of not "telling them". My mom just disclosed that she was reading the 19th wise when she was baptized and has always known it was not "true". Our lives, in so many ways would have been better with the truth. She joined because she thought it would help with my dad's drinking and smoking and would be a clean livin' club. It caused divorces

Oh she knows its true, I have never lied to her, she was shocked at their smoothness of not mentioning it was 1 hour before, but "the other day". The energy Mormons spend judging others could power SLC for all eternity.

I experienced many joys as a Mormon. None can compare to running into the high counselor and his wife who were assigned to my ex (and still visit with weekly) at a restaurant on Sunday afternoon. I walked up to him and said hi, he would not look me in the eye and just ignored me. That feeling, of catching him being a hypocrite will fill my nights with perfect joy. He went to visit my ex

Mormonism is a lot easier to understand if you assume they are making it up as they go along to cover their tracks. Only then will the geography, DNA, timeline, revisions, retractions, denials, lies, policies, statements, history and doctrine make PERFECT sense.

They are both 60, both have 5 kids. One is a Mormon bishop. One is an atheist. The bishop's fall is a trial for his followers or a consequence of his sins. The other guy fell because of the law of gravity. Both die as much as the other guy.

Is it me or are they just reading fortune cookies for 8 hours at this point. No wonder most of them are so shallow. They are a bunch of sad sacks of dismissed feelings covered in platitudes.

I was the YMs president in a Spanish branch in Utah. All of my boys were converts and had never been to any church history sites. I had the idea of doing a fundraiser: spaghetti dinners for the ward and renting 3 buses to go go to nauvoo, 2 would carry members that paid for a ticket, the 3rd bus would carry young men and their families. We raised the money. As I began researching which waiver the

I saw the other side of the "move to the morridor" story: We had 7 California families move into the ward within 5 months, most of the knew each other (Orange Co.) They had sold average homes (250K-300K) for well over 700k, within 5 years of buying them. They decided they would move to Zion and but 400-780K homes in my neighborhood. All of these families were Hispanic and de

One consistent doctrine Christ taught in being able to differentiate between the many claims of godly legitimacy among his followers was the scientific, "by their fruits ye shall know them." The original "if it talks like a duck..." Let's apply it. As you are aware Mormons use platitudes and childish cult arguments to make it “true”. I watched the “alternativ

Thanks, I appreciate it. At this point the LDS church invalidates, contradicts or waters down EVERY SINGLE things Christ taught. This is what my silly writings will be about.

Nothing more modest that a Mormon with 9 inches of see-thru garment showing crack over their jeans as they swat they chunky highlights out of the way to look in their purse for their credit card at walmart.

(This is post #1 on a series of un-Christian Mormon Doctrines) Mormon culture and I use that term loosely, is obsessed with appearances. In fact is it part of their post-Christian doctrine (Jesus taught the exact opposite, repeatedly). Avoid the “Appearance of Evil” was drilled into my head. I walked around having to think of how might anything I was involved or could be associated with

Cludgie, It pains me to hear experiences like yours. Its like, as Mormons, we are given bad advice, like being told 2+2=6. We go around with this treasured information, making all types of bad decisions (like if I give 10%+ I will have more money for myself!). Eventually the bad math gets us a rut that may take years or even a lifetime to get out of, because we continue to bang out head

Thank you, very insightful. I can see the LDS begin to call counselors and have better policies out of necessity while the members pull their hair out shouting hallelujah IRS revelation, I always knew it was true!! Just like the Catholics Mormonism, even as a basic church must remain as it covers the "purpose" of the many businesses it hides under itself.

I did not say they are going away as a church, but they are going away as they have existed: Infallible leadership Divine investiture of authority The BOM, as a divnely translated document down to a mere inspired one The POGP is being reduced/discontinued as a reference in GC and SS I don't see how the catholic church is a an example of enduring power of a church, when they are los

The only case study we have is the RLDS. The LDS are surely walking a very similar path, just 25 years behind. to recap: In the last 10 years the LDS: Have admitted they are not infallible Have introduced the idea that the BOM was interpreted and is inspired (read not translated and historical) Have stopped using the POGP in GC Have begun to make "allotments" such as

Most of us agree that Mormonism is having an uncomfortable walk in the sunlight due to the internet. However here is why I think they will continue to morph in a very generalized Christian church. Mormonism has thrived in being able to change it's "everlasting doctrine" continuously, while at the same time claiming to be unchangeble, revealed, eternal and infallible. How?

That is my point, there are families who thrive IN SPITE of Mormonism, not because of it. There are some cultural aspects to Mormonism that align with with certain cultures well. The well to do California family is one. Often these families thrive at the expense of silencing a drug addition in the family or suppressing a gay child. These people would be just as happy outside of Mormonism,

I think mormons could save decades and hundreds of thousands if they were to go to Walgreens and buy all the chicken soup for the soul books available.

I could not agree more. I don't care about tapirs. Mormonism exits where there is no light or air, like a mold. They are so caught up in the past and the after life, where they can hold on to the POSSIBILITY that it may be true. Too often we follow them there to argue, when in reality the church can be proven totally false with what is going on TODAY and what it does not contribute TODAY

Thank you! I think that we as a community needs to stop spending so much time debating on their terms (is the WOW a law or not, for example) and bring them to the light of reasoning and the actuality of their lives (there is no WOW)

I am amazed at the reflex of so many members, they are able to go from: "it's an old lie" to "I always knew it and it's fine" in the time it takes for them to look over the pay-stubs. They have bee trained to have zero intellectual integrity and any ethics or morals have been long washed out of their brains.

If you leave the church and a bus hits you: punishment If you are active and a bus hits you: a trial because you are chosen same outcome, but one costs 10% of your income, your mind and happiness.

They are not doing fine. They are laser focused on the gospel of prosperity and they leverage debt to obtain it. Utah county has one of the highest bankruptcy rates in the nation. Having been in finance for years, I know this type. They don't understand that loan applications do not ask about tithing or missions, so unknowingly they borrow more than than they should and use "faith" t

A friend married too soon, divorced; married a divorced woman with 3 children of her own, now they have 6. she is pregnant. He is 26. He started his own business, as a desperate attempt to get out from under the crushing financial burden that an indefinite life of poverty would bring. The business is struggling as he has no credit, assets or time. He came to me for a loan. I turned him dow

A neighbor (Utah) has the lack of social graces often lacking in this population to, upon meeting me casually on the street, say: "I heard that you were or are a member". my initial reaction was to blurt out: I was a Mormon when I was a child, I am no longer a child, so I am no longer a Mormon. stunned silence.

I publicly confronted a preacher on my mission that was talking to MY. Investigator and acused him quite dramatically that he was a servant of Lucifer because he made money off the gospel, I then quoted a few scriptures that condemn the practice. He smiled and told me "Mormon leaders make 10 times what I make and I disclose every penny to my followers" I knew he was lying because Mormon
