Richard Feynman on God: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YltEym9H0x4 It's about they way you think and what you want. It's a question that can't reasonably be answered so there's no right or wrong position.

Where is the original thinking going to come from? The Q15 will always be behind the curve. They can't even try new things on a trial basis, see what works and spin up a solution. They can only decide from "revelation" (what feels good at the time).

There's a psychologist who has spent a lifetime studying exactly your problem and how to fix it. See http://nathanielbranden.com/

Good point about the leadership. Tell them you'll get baptized just as soon as you see at least one woman in the quorum of the 12.

Monson bedridden thread closed. Is Boyd really next in line? Does TSCC actually care about its public image? I guess they could do worse, as he's less creepy than Bednar. But still, those two make the other 10 seem kind of normal.

If you believe the source of consciousness is outside the brain, you probably don't qualify as an atheist. Maybe you could be agnostic.

I've heard of fireproof bibles. My ex's trailer burned up. Everything gone except the family bible, which wasn't even singed. I used to be close friends with a real witch, the kind who could push people with her mind, like the Jedi mind trick. It was fun to watch. People in garmies could not be pushed.

It's beautiful country there in the summer time. The whole finger lakes region, in fact. Watkins Glen has a hiking trail that goes over some magnificent gorges. You can't go wrong.

"Homo Sapiens Sapiens, wise wise human" I prefer "hairless tool-using ape". Typed with my knuckle dragging fingers.

I don't know if this is a cosmic coincidence, but I'm watching "The World's End" (the latest Simon Pegg and Nick Frost movie). Seems very appropriate to this thread.

Genius is a mixed bag. Einstein was great at math and physics. Other than that, he was just another guy with his own religious views. They happened to be colored by his experiences in theoretical physics. Just as my views of God are colored by my life experiences. So, another person's experience of God really doesn't amount to much. It's more about what you experience. I mean Einstein was s

You'll be fine. We all went through the same thing. It's really a lot to work through so it will take time. But you'll make it and be better off. It's true that a big lie is easier to swallow than a small lie. Mormonism is one of the biggest lies ever. Absolute, pure bullshit. You can float on top of the bullshit, sink in it, or be buried by it. Just try to float on top, like Jesus walking on

I doubt that the "rock in hat" method fazes very many TBMs. It's just one more miraculous thing. I'm sure investigators are told that it's more evidence of the BoM's divinity.

You'll find that much of life is about making the best out of a bad situation. The great thing about this is that you have control of your mind. You can easily research the church and come to your own conclusions. You're finding out now, not after you've been exploited and mind controlled for decades.

I would love to have been "victimized" like this when I was in school. Realistically, sex between student and teacher is much safer than sex between students. Plus, there can be real teaching going on. I think maybe my Mormon prudishness is wearing off.

I think your handle threw people off. Try something less offensive like "Curry Breath". Bhakti Tirtha Swami sounds like a wise old man. I think all of this can be summed up as "Don't carry other people's baggage". If you carry it for them, it's bad for you and them.

I spent a little time investigating the blog. I'll admit that Isaiah was a talented remote viewer in his day. He also had access to certain "holy plants" that expanded his consciousness. However, treating the BoM as anything other than fiction is where the wheels fall off. LDS doctrine is a red herring for this blogger. It's not that The One Who Watches is wrong about the coming d

This is a huge exercise in confirmation bias. The original source isn't Deseret News. It's from a paper published in the 2011 Mormon Studies Review from the Maxwell Institute at BYU. Maybe Y mountain next to BYU isn't really a mountain but a huge pile of bullshit. In the winter if you look closely, you can see it steaming.

It depends where you draw the line between conscious and not. Humans have emotional lives. Rats have emotional lives (they laugh and play, they get moody). Single celled organisms even show signs of intelligence. What if there is no line? Matter itself, elementary particles, may be having an emotional experience of being. They consciously observe, and this observation causes objective collapse of

In TSCC, every issue is a spiritual issue. Depression? You have a spiritual issue. Stop sinning and read more BoM. There's also an antagonism toward psychology in general. They're not Jesus freaks (some are even atheists) so their professional advice can't be any good.

Well, there are good moves available. But their religion blocks those options. You can't compare them to rats on a sinking ship because at least rats run the right direction.

Obama can propose anything he wants. Education is very popular in State of the Union speeches. It will never happen. The Vietnam era war protests pissed off the wrong people, who have been de-funding higher education ever since.

At one time, I had a feeling that arithmetic wasn't reliable because I was always making mistakes in math. But the truth is, if you don't make a mistake it works every time. Your computer will perform the same calculation a bazillion times and get the same answer each time. No amount of feeling can change that fact. The facts don't lie. TSCC is bogus. It really isn't your friend.

I don't think forgiveness factors into this situation. It's like the Vietnam era occupation mentality: "We had to destroy the village to save it". Mormonism is 19th century American imperialism operating as a thought control cult. If you want my post-mormon take on forgiveness, blanket forgiveness is as dumb as blind obedience. Sometimes it's like a Jew offering Hitler a box of match
