Sometimes it is hard to find a piano player. They may work on you incessantly to come back to church because you play piano. Ha Ha ha tumatawa... Hey, and I just read on another thread here that they are making my ole residence, Cabanatuan City, an ENTIRE mission. When I was there, we could barely fill the front seats on Sundays, and church was held in our small rented house. In 1970

Knight: I learned how intoxicating it can be to hear a "foreigner" speak clearly in my own language. Since Filipinos speak perfectly good English already, there is no need to learn the local dialect. But the church recognizes that speaking the local language will by itself attract listeners, and takes full advantage of that situation. One more thing...Just for fun I thought I

Knight, Just in support of you, I will mention my history. I was one of the first "elders" in several areas, including Malolos, Bulacan which is near your hometown. After Malolos, I helped open Cabanatuan City, Cebu City, and Davao City. And I am now agnostic. I began realizing the false information which I was spreading even during those times when the Philippines, in its ent

Susan was charming and beautiful, well liked and dated a guy from the local "rock band" among others. I was too chicken to ask her out myself, though I did date her cousin for a time. To me, after all these years with Bednar, she has that overworked and unhappy look...stressed out. And I do feel sorry for her. She deserves better than that kind of treatment. Even a dog gets more

The lower class has no power. The middle class is allowed by the super rich to think that they have power, when they don't. It's the same with religion. Apostles and Prophets and Popes and Preachers allow us to believe in what they say, when they have no more actual revelatory power than you or I. This is why I am still pissed at the dishonesty of church leadership. We were taught to b

No one dared bully our children or they would find themselves knocked cold out. Our kids were in an all white school too. One time a kid said to my son, "...you're *brown*..." My son just replied, "...you're paleface..." and then went on his way.

It is called Balut. It is not rotten, and has all the same ingredients of a regular duck egg. It is a hard boiled duck embryo. It is said that if you eat a Balut and drink a San Miguel, you will last all night long. Better than viagra and tastes great. Perhaps your husband should try one, Hocky Rat.

I understand Tagalog okay. But we never used in when I was a missionary because educated people there speak very good English. I learned it mainly from being married to a Filipina and by associating with lots of Filipinos. Here is a couple of lines to learn: Makukunwari Hindi mo ako mahal. (You're pretending that you don't love me) Napanaginip ko Kaplan Lang at ngayong ay natagpuan Nikit

I am a pasty white Caucasian with blue eyes. One of my Jewish ancestors was an associate of Joseph Smith Jr in Nauvoo. At that time, he recorded in his personal notes that Joseph told him ...God himself has blue eyes... Anyway, I married a Filipina almost 39 years ago. Anyone who says interracial/intercultural marriage won't work is apparently wrong. My Milkezdick Priesthood holder uncle t

I was an early pioneer in Cebu City...1970-71. Anyone in church who joined at that time would remember me. I have contacted many of them using FB, and have been frank with them about my unbelief. None of them have unfriended me, though a few are still believing/active.

They want, and need to be able to manipulate people. But Tal has shown that he is well informed and that he is not going to be manipulated. Going after him would only cause bad publicity for the church. So they have to back off. If a famous person is about to be brought before the church court like Runnells, and then excommunicates the church...now that can cause some real damage. A

One of the first things that began to open my eyes about TSCC was that when I was a missionary and also in the military, the people I met there, seemed so much happier that I was...and I was the one with the gospel. It didn't connect for a long time that there could be anything wrong with the "gospel" I was carrying with me. But certainly, as soon as I took it less seriously, the ha

I was at Rick's myself in 68-69, one of the New Freedom Singers if you know who they were. Thanks for posting that wonderful story of finding your long lost family. Loved reading it on Christmas morning before everyone else wakes up.

I had turned 13 only two weeks prior. I was walking down the corridor that went by the High School principal's office and noticed on the black board that it said "...the president has been shot..." That must have been just before lunch, because I remember going off by myself in the upper seats of the gymnasium and thinking that his must be a communist conspiracy and we will soon be

I was one of the early missionaries. The Philippinres was all one mission back in 1969-71. My attitude was "...I am bringing a message to these people. If they won't hear it, that is their problem." But I was a robot for the church at the time. I had desires to get into the air conditioned mission home and be a spiritual giant. But my attitude of take it or leave it was not gett

I decided against doing it myself and will instead just let Nature take its course. Although I have no wish for suffering, my fear of death is diminished after realizing that God is not going to punish me forever in an after life. Get well soon, and may Nature be kind to you. You are a hero to us all.

I realized that our relationship was NEVER going to work, and that the pain of leaving her was less than the pain of being around her. I talked to very few people about it. Later, I found someone else who was a much better match and now the two of us have been happily married for 38 years. Although psychiatrists may be of some help to some people, they don't really know you and the longer

I have not seen her now for 45 years, and seeing her now in this video, oh man... the strain of being married to that freak has put a toll on her. I couldn't stand to listen to this video for more than a couple of minutes. Glad I got my entire family out of this bullshit religion.

We live in a gigantic galaxy in which our planet is little more than a pale blue dot. The Hubble telescope has shown that there are literally billions of other galaxy's surrounding ours. Why would a god who has created all this feel he *needs* to be worshiped by these itsy bitsy little humans?
