Anti-miscegenation Law - makes some mixed race marriages illegal Utah 1888 law made it illegal for a "negro" or "mongolian" (of Asian descent Japanese, Korean, Chinese and so on) to marry a "white person". The 1888 law was in effect until repealed in 1963. Wyoming repealed their anti-miscegenation law in 1965. 14 states still had anti-miscegenation laws on the

Article says Lori is unlikely to get out, due to other charges pending in a different county. So she will remain in jail, where she apparently is a model prisoner. I wish she was released, because she would be quite likely to do something wild and wacky and crazy, and that could be interesting. If ever released, she could request no house arrest, but can't leave the county, and can't com

Uchtdorf actually seems like a really nice and sensible guy. I'll bet many of the more hard-core types (most or all of the other 14?) have thoughts of muzzling Uchtdorf or tossing him overboard. If they allowed it, Uchtdorf would almost certainly be OK with discussing the many stories of the Old Testament (Genesis and so on) and BOM (Jaredites submarine boats and so on) as merely ancient st

In an online devotional, Dieter Uchtdorf counselled members to read about heroes from a wide variety of literary classic sources. 2,000 Stripling warriors? no way - - - you've read that fantasy story tons of times BOM? come on man . . . are you kidding? Read all the Harry Potter series, and when you're done with that . . . there's an endless variety of inspirational materials out there .

What are "the brethren" saying about any of this coronavirus stuff? What wise advice resulting from glorious revelations from God are the top 15 LDS dudes providing? My guess- - - they don't have a clue about what the hell kind of advice to dish out. This pandemic is obviously creating havoc for the "only true church" on earth TCOJCOLDS. https://www.legacy.com/news/covid19-memorial/silvia-deyanira-melendez/ and more recently, a 32 year old Utah mother of 2 died from COVID-19. The rebellious folks in Utah County - home of BYU of course - packed 100 people into a small room recently to protest against the Governor's possible mask requirement for school kids. And wouldn't you guess - hardly any of the 100 had a mask. Just didn

Should protestors tear down Ernest Wilkinson statues? (if there are any) Ernest Wilkinson was BYU President in the 50s and 60s. In 1958, BYU students debated segregation of the races, and analyzed Apostle Mark E. Peterson's 1954 speech: "The Negro seeks absorption with the white race. He will not be satisfied until he achieves it by intermarriage. That is his objective and we must face i

If you're not familiar with the Black 14 event in 1969, you should read this little history lesson. Essentially, 14 Black Wyoming football players considered a protest against BYU in 1969 by wearing black armbands or some sort of nonviolent protest. In the 60s, Wyoming was a football powerhouse, winning 3 conference titles in the late 60s. Coach Eaton refused to allow any protest of any kind, and

Things could get rocky for the sports world. College football could easily result in a lot of COVID-19 spreading. If COVID-19 can spread at a Colorado summer camp, then it could certainly spread like crazy amongst college football teams all over. NBA - they're going to Orlando, where COVID-19 is know to be spreading like crazy in June. When each positive COVID-19 case develops, you've got d

If LDS meetings start up again, why would elderly or sick or people with lung problems or diabetics or immune problems or recovering cancer patients - why would the at-risk people go to a church meeting? Just stay home people! Use some common sense! The COVID-19 is spreading, and big precautions won't stop it from spreading. You can almost guarantee that people at the Trump rallies are spre

Why in the world would any YM or YW sign up to be a missionary before this whole COVID-19 pandemic is under control? (sometime in 2021 or 2022???) And why would the LDS church accept new missionaries? The program should be semi-shut down completely. Accepting new missionaries will just lead to frustration and unhappiness for all involved. As an example of how the pandemic is ***FAR FROM OVER*

Alex "the hitman" Cox, age 51, was unresponsive on the bathroom floor Dec 12, 2019 and died. He may have complained of chest pains, and may have had a blood clot. He was also foaming at the mouth which can be indicative of some sort of dangerous substance in the body. The death was ruled natural. What substance can be given to a person to cause chest pains and/or blood clot? Tamm

The FBI spent a lot of manpower on this case, and there's a lot more investigating to do. The FBI agents are no dummies. They are a dedicated, highly-skilled crew, who were determined to find Tylee and JJ. Unfortunately, we all knew that they were probably after the bodies, and not live children. I hope Chad and Lori get really good lawyers. I don't want any later excuse of poor representat

ok folks . . . there's some newly released court papers. I may have some of this information slightly incorrect, but the details will probably be clarified with more news stories over the weekend. Lori's now-deceased brother, Alex "the hitman" Cox, was the key to finding the 2 kids bodies. Extensive Cox cell phone info analysis seems to be the key. Investigators may have taken a l

To consider how times have changed, we must look back to the political positions of George W Romney (father of Mitt) and Ezra Taft Benson (father of famous exmormon Steve Benson). You can tell that Blacks had very little influence and power in the 60s and 70s, because members of racist COJCOLDS made it to high political positions without big protests and opposition. My teenage son, who normally attends LDS meetings 100%, suggests that meetings be staggered so people only go to church every other week. Just half the ward on a given Sunday. It's probably wishful thinking on his part . . . Many, if not most, LDS teenagers really like the "stay at home" church currently going on around the world. Of course, some LDS teens (and other religions

from another thread . . . by Schrodingerscat LOL, my teenage son, left church after Sacrament once and I loooked at my TBM wife and said, "I'll handle this." I went out to the mini van where he was standing and said, "Why'd you walk out?" Because I'm not going back in there. Why not? Because its boring and those people are stupid. Well. I can't argue with you there.
