It's hard to comprehend this info with as little knowledge as some of us have. Would it be possible for you to give a down and dirty lesson in the migration and peopling of North America - such that you would give to a class of 4th graders? Save the DNA for another lesson. Just tell us the time lines and major theories and upon what evidence they are based. Thanks.

https://www.deseretnews.com/article/770568/Tending-the-flock.html This is an old article. (2000) Would they be this forthcoming today? "The church owns thousands of acres of farm and ranch land throughout the West, including the Deseret Land and Livestock Co., a private big-game hunting preserve scattered over 200,000 acres in northern Utah. Hunters from around the country vie for a

Her book, "House Rules" is about an autistic teen, on the edge younger brother, and a frazzled single Mom. I'm not very far into it but is also seems to be a murder mystery. Don't know anyone who writes with such exquisite detail. She's written more than 20 books, all about pertinent and timely issues and all meticulously researched. Oh, and I just finished "Little Fires E

366. Tithing?
Maybe Dave never paid much tithing. Not worth it to go after him. Maybe you did pay? Might they want to reactivate your checkbook? Just a wild guess.

Lee had 19 wives and 56 children, and his descendants are now numerous. Former Solicitor General Rex E. Lee is a direct descendant of John Lee, as are his sons Senator Mike Lee of Utah and Utah Supreme Court Justice Thomas R. Lee.[13][14]Another descendant, Gordon H. Smith, was a U.S. Senator from Oregon.[15]:812 US Representatives Morris K "Mo" Udall(D-AZ) and Stewart Udall (D-AZ) and

Mixed feelings. On one hand, Mike has helped a lot of people recognize the fraud of the Church. Especially younger people who have no idea what goes on. On the other hand, he brings a lot of bad press to the ExMo community with his questionable tactics. My sense is that people leave the church because of its deceitful history and doctrines and bad behavior on the part of the leadership. It

HBO June 25 Directed by Don Argott (DeLorean, Batman & Bill, The Art of the Steal), Believer follows Mormon Dan Reynolds, frontman for the Grammy Award-winning band Imagine Dragons, as he takes on a new mission to explore how the Mormon Church treats its LGBTQ members. With the rising suicide rate amongst teens in the state of Utah, his concern with the church’s policies sends him on a

Exmo groups are refreshingly real. People have dropped their goody-two shoes masks and are eager just to know each other honestly. My experience is that many exmos are introverts. I believe introverts tend to sit back and observe. It is harder for them to play the role of active, outgoing, "everyone's a missionary" member. Go sit on the edge. I think you'll be pleasantly surpri

375. Re: Help
Everything you read here will be helpful. I'll add my 2 cents. What if it's true? (It isn't but follow . . . .) Think about it. According to the Mormon plan, Jesus comes Earth to save us all. For what? Oh, yes, from death. If we believe in him we will get eternal life. Except that he got mad and took his plan away and screwed everyone over for 1800 years. Then decides it's time to give

Heartbreaking. Wonder if the message in the suicide note will be released? Andrew Soloman has a chapter on suicide in his book, "Far From the Tree". He says that the common factor among those who take their own lives is impulsivity.

If I were a celebrated artistic cake decorator and someone asked me to bake a cake that read: "Congratulations Warren Jeffs on your marriage to your 44th wife" or "Celebrating the court victory and vindication of Joseph Smith VI's pedophile charges" or "In Honor of the $50 billionth dollar collected in tithing", I think I'd decline to decorate the c

This was a narrowly defined decision which focused on the way the bakers had been treated. I wonder how different this is from the window signs in restaurants that say, "We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone."?

.....there might be a new nugget in what I have to say. I'm introvert and it's hard for me to make friends cold. I do best in a situation where we "have" to be there, giving extended time to talk and get to know someone and have them know me. I volunteered at the local hospital which gave me sitting time with another volunteer. The hospital loves its volunteers and plans appreciat

In "Religion for Atheists", Alain Botton tells why we need rituals - for remembering what's important. I like the way rituals bind us together. Think secular rituals like Pledge of Allegiance, wedding vows, swearing to tell the truth, funerals, throwing out the first baseball of the season, toasting friends.

But I'm beginning to feel guilty about not subscribing even though I only read a couple of reposted articles a week. Dwindling revenues is the problem.
