I think they are trying to establish rapport with theologians, get on their good side, inoculate the believers, a-la the same manner as the release of the doctrine essays to the faithful. My understanding is that tracing ones own family lines through DNA is only as accurate as the data they (Ancestry, 21 and me, etc.) have on hand. If people haven't recorded their DNA there might not be any validation as to from where your ancestors hail. Data from 3rd world countries is particularly lacking.
