We all have a sense of morbid curiosity. Somehow we escaped the sausage grinder, but now we’re fascinated with the mechanism. Mormonism is the kind of freak show you can’t stop watching.

When the caravan is finally all bunched up at the border, on either side, the church will have a great missionary opportunity. They should bus in extra missionaries.

I wonder if Nelson is more up to date on the medical literature than we assume. Traumatic Brain Injury is the stuff of lawsuits in the NFL. When will it trickle down to NCAA? Better to get out now.

What with the snarky stuff and terrible jokes. It’s hard not to hate. I don’t want to be like that. Some things that are true need not be said. I should write as if old me were reading. I’m sorry if I offended the Mormony among you by having fun at your expense. Joseph was, well, Joseph. Children adopt the culture they are raised in, and the Smith family was a tricky bunch. Joseph happen

If they can’t take the high road on their high horse, the way is clear for you. Mormonism is an institutionalized kind of blindness that’s hard to overcome. It would be nice if it were the only kind, but they are a dime a dozen. You might treat cult capture as a form of mental illness. It’s too bad your family rides the short bus.

That 16 mil includes baseball baptisms in which members go inactive almost immediately. If anything counts, it’s not a credible number at all. But that’s characteristic of everything the church puts out publicly.

Sounds about as effective as scolding a puppy for pooping on the floor. Their religion trains them to leave presents everywhere they go. But in honor of the late Marty Balin: Woah, I've been so many places I've seen some things (yes I have) I know that love is the answer (yes it is) Keeps holding this world together (oh yeah) Ain't nothing better? Ain't nothing better?(Nothing's better!) A

That’s how the cult trains us. Go along to get along. But at what price? Going along with stupid begets more stupid. The way offense actually works is if someone doesn’t like that you won’t be their doormat, it’s on them.

Exactly. How can you take the endowment seriously if it doesn’t have the “Oath of Vengeance"? How can you have a real anointing without all the touchy feely stuff? Nobody even gets naked anymore. It’s all a sham now, so why bother with it? The basic problem is that keeping the peace is counterproductive. OP should not support activities he thinks are wrong. Nobody in his family shou

“Exodus 3:14 Moses talks to God, asks him about his existence or purpose or some such thing, and God replies, ... get ready for it ... (drum roll) ... I AM THAT I AM.” It’s much better in the movie, but only the one with Charlton Heston. Maybe it’s the deep God voice. I can only do it if my vocal cords are really swollen. I found the killing of Laban kind of disturbing. I don’t th

I suspect that we are our ancestors. One time I was looking at a photo of two of my kids, while not quite in my normal mind, and saw my great grandmothers’ faces superimposed on theirs. Not that I recognized them, but I felt that’s who they were. We feel the presence of the past and the presence of the future in different ways. Humans are different from animals in the way they remember the

And it came to pass that the storm troopers said, “These aren’t the droids we’re looking for”. And after Abinadi had done these things, he spoke unto the people formerly known as Mormon but whose current name is to long to be written on these precious plates, saying: These is nothing to see here. Move along, move along. And it came to pass that they were satisfied once again with their ba

Tithing is only fire insurance for the second coming. TSCC self-insures, but they’ll have no problem providing employment for Utah builders. Just think, the members can dwell in tents during the week and learn about Lehi’s travels on Sunday.

It’s a matter of faith in he who was boiled for our sins, even the creator of heaven and mozzarella. May his holy meatballs be blessed. The burning in your bosom may be heartburn, or it may be a confirmation that the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is the One True Church.

According to the LDS meetinghouse locator, there are two near Oroville. Maybe they will miraculously be spared, proving the church is true. Edit: Oops, the Paradise meeting houses went up yesterday. https://www.deseretnews.com/article/900041261/church-news-paradise-camp-fire-hits-latter-day-saint-families-hard-destroys-church-meetinghouse.html Maybe someone was looking at porn.

Polygamy is legal under Islamic law, which also forbids conversion under penalty of death. So restricting the church to countries like Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Oman, UAE, qatar, Bahrain, Egypt, Kuwait, Iraq, and Iran would be a two-fer.

1 Nephi 1:4 For it came to pass in the commencement of the first year of the reign of Zedekiah, king of Judah, (my father, Lehi, having dwelt at Jerusalem in all his days); and in that same year there came many prophets, prophesying unto the people that they must repent, or the great city Jerusalem must be destroyed. Zedekiah was appointed king after the destruction of Jerusalem, not before.

Since Henry Bemis brought up the Block Universe interpretation of GR, with its attendant illusion of free will, I thought I’d mention the other side, the Many Worlds interpretation of QM. Sean Carroll explains in https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=iXRLDatmbgA I kind of like the Copenhagen interpretation of QM, which has conscious observation collapsing the wave function. If anything can do that,

They can’t frame it as a pious fraud because Joseph (and Brigham) were anything but pious. They were all about the power. They made and destroyed lots of enemies. It didn’t matter who got in the way. Nancy Rigdon, gone. Even today TSCC claims to sustain the law of the land while at the same time holding up polygamy as the heavenly ideal. “We’d practice it, but you know, laws and stuff.”
