Good advice. Which they will promptly, and historically, ignore.

Good for the kid. He's a 4.0 GPA student. Supposedly, he had his speech reviewed by BYU before he gave that speech. If that's true, and I'd never thought I'd say this, good for BYU.

My wife, before she was my wife, lived in San Diego. Her friends older brother was a drywaller that worked on that temple. Contractors worked on the temple days and nights. I know for a fact that there are empty beer cans and bras and panties sealed behind some interior temple walls. We still get back to San Diego once a year. We always laugh when we see that temple.

Detail, details. Just swallow the Kool Aid and all will be good. I love the "Forever Families". Especially for big families. You know that in a family of 9, at least 2 of them will be major league assholes. And now, when I die, I have to live with them, forever? Sounds great!

Exactly! The whole "don't let the bad apples spoil the bunch". However, in law enforcement, there's a lot of "look the other way" stuff with borderline cops. IMO, good cops that allow bad cops to be bad cops, have become bad cops.

"That's what keeps us 1st world. If you think cops are bad here just go down South and cross the border. " Or, go up north and cross the border, where police are respectful until they don't need to be (the also have weed). Go to the Netherlands or Japan and see how "civilians" treat police and police treat them. And NO. We don't give up our rights in echange for safety. &q

I know what the book says and I know reality. Just google "US police arrest quotas" and read the stories from ex-cops. Used to be, cops would look for ways to de-escalate situations. Now, many (I didn't say all) try to escalate situations to make an arrest. The cops that I know, most are 20+ year vets that are secure in rank and pay, talk about the young guns finding reasons to make an

My issue is with PD department arrest "quotas". No, you won't likely see that in writing. I know cops in 4 different agencies in Utah. They all get promoted and recognized based on arrests and arrest reports. So, gung ho cops, looking for promotions and higher pay, can turn most any situation that could be handled with a warning, into an arrest. They all do it, they just don't admit it.

Tooele is about 35 miles from SLC. Bountiful Temple to SLC about 11 miles. South Jordan 16. West Jordan, 13. Draper 19. I think it's more about a reminder and intimidation (plus putting $$$ in the construction company coffers) than need. I live near the Draper temple, never seems to be much going on.

Bingo. The truth is anti- mormon. Which then makes mormonism anti-truth.

I agree. But your phrasing is a lot more diplomatic and polite (and improbable) than the kid's just saying "Fuck You!"

You got it. It's "the chickens have come home to roost". To keep up their MLM pyramid scheme, they have to branch out. But, outside of Utah, their heavy handed tactics don't work. Their global temple construction is only for the top guys to financially benefit. It has nothing to do with church growth. The internet is killing the mormon church.

"BTW, the Church still discriminates against women. That also poses zero threat to their tax-exempt status. I know "they're going to lose their tax-exempt status" is an RFM wet dream. Get over it." It's not written policy. Like their LBGTQ policy was. Or their Blacks on the priesthood ban. No member of the Westboro baptist church was a lawsuit threat. Unlike the LDS church.

The church never apologizes. Remember? Especially in this case where an apology will open them up to hundreds of millions of dollars in lawsuit payouts. It's all about liability.

"This is a good thing. If you're going to be mormon, despite how obviously false it is, then the more changes like this the better." Yeah, but what's to stop the next drooling octogenarian to change it back?

We know it's not revelation. We know their policy was a clusterfuck that drew a lot of unwanted attention. We know the church is never wrong. We know the church never apologizes. So? What changed their minds? My guesses are threefold. One, their discriminatory practices risked losing their tax exempt status. Two, they were losing existing members and the youth's future market. Or three, Utah ha

Yeah, but a lot of people a naturally smart. Smart enough to see through your BS. If you want to post about the leadership of a cult, just do it. Your doctor analogy and supposed repairman is not needed.
