I heard someone say that the church teaches if you’re sexually tempted by someone they aren’t the one HF has picked out for you so this couple who was engaged ended up doing some stuff the church wouldn’t approve of and they broke off the engagement. The guy never married after that.

Yeah, I’m not sure how this board works half the dang time, still getting used to it. My apologies however.

Not sure who you’re speaking to but I never said anyone was judgemental for not liking tattoos but that I would rather have my tattoos and not judge others than be tattoo free and judging others simply for having them. There is a difference between simply not liking them and judging others and I was just making a statement on the mentality that often gets wrapped around the issue not saying tha

Most are teens yes, but I was 25 and a new convert looking towards my endowment. They won’t give it to anyone “not spiritually ready” so usually you are reaching some type of milestone before they give it such as serving a mission or about to receive your endowments but not always.

The thing is so many people are assuming that people will regret their tattoos ten years from now but that isn’t always the case. I didn’t get either of mine until I was in my thirties and I used to be one of those people who couldn’t stand tattoos. I wasn’t opposed to people getting one, I pretty much had the mentality of live and let live but I never thought I’d get one and yet here I

That’s where you’re wrong friend, I am a pre-primary teacher for a private Montessori school and have one near my shoulder (three sparrows flying away symbolic of my children and I escaping my abusive marriage) and one very small one on my wrist of the semicolon but a heart replacing the dot. Both are very easily covered with clothing but none the less I have worked at this school for four ye

I have two tattoos and three piercings in each ear and I don’t feel an ounce of guilt. I put a video on FB with a well known Catholic priest that I listen to often explaining why tattoos are actually ok even when we claim the Catholic faith and not too long after I posted it one of my TBM friends posted a video with a guy explaining why Christians should not have tattoos and I had to roll my ey

If I ever need help again, rest assured I will go to my Catholic parish for help this time around. At the time I was being sucked back in after leaving but decided after much discernment to absolutely return and remain Catholic. That probably pissed them off or ar least made me the subject of much discussion. I’m pretty sure I’m on the Temple prayer rolls.

As a returned Catholic I am very happy to hear that. The Church will and always has helped those in need with no membership required. Many women in my Emmaus prayer group cooked for me when I gave birth to my son. I returned the favor when another Emmaus sister had a baby aa well. By this time I had already come back to the Catholic Church but the Church has helped many non-Catholics in need with

I always wondered... what do the other kingdoms look like then and am I looking at the Terrestrial kingdom for life or do I still have the possibilty of being redeemed? The three kingdoms always threw me for a loop. I had so many questions. This is from a satirical point of view mind you.

Mine was freakishly accurate in a lot of ways but what I didn’t tell them was I was discerning if I should return to the Catholic Church or not when I received mine. I prayed that no matter what the truth was and where I belonged the Holy Spirit would still speak through him. I can say pretty much everything came to pass except being sealed for time and eternity in the Temple but of course they

Both of them divorced but during the finalization of his divorce they were dating and did some things and got excommunicated. It was a soul journey for the two of them but ultimately both of them were rebaptized and returned to the fold. So, when I told her I was leaving for good she respected my decision but still claimed she had done all the research possible to know the church is true but of c

I always found it so ironic when my TBM friend would chug “Two Hour Energy” and then chastise her also TBM husband for drinking Mountain Dew. There are proven benefits to coffee and wine and really absolutely none to “Two Hour Energy” but yet it was completely ok. It seems like such a contradiction to what they all argued the WoW was about. However, some members argued that it all was sim

While I was still involved with the church I hit hard times BIG time. I had left my abusive husband and at the time he was refusing to pay child support and cooperate with the divorce. My abusive marriage is one of the most painful things I ever endured. He is a narcissist by every textbook definition there is and until this day is still trying to abuse me from afar. It’s just my therapy has he

I was devoutly Catholic before I joined and decided that my Catholic testimony never left me despite all the things that sucked me in. I am now back to being happily Catholic with coffee and wine as major perks. I am at peace. I hope others find that peace whatever they choose.

I know I wasn’t a member until way late (2012) but I remember when the missionaries had flip phones even back then. Maybe it was budget but you would think not, with how much money goes into the church from tithing and offerings. I thought it was probably to keep a grasp on how much access to the outside world they had but I was visited recently and they suddenly had smart phones either iphones

I agree about the fact that people would not keep me away if I truly believed in something. The way people misuse their freewill does not take away truth if it’s actually there because people will be imperfect regardless. However, as a Catholic I remember reading from the book of Judith and then when investigating reading the part in the BOM about Laban. It didn’t dawn on me til a little late

Mainly doctrine I knew had no leg to stand on but it was a real kick in the gut when the BOM “the truest book on earth” basically said dark skin was a curse. I’m not black but I found it preposterous and devastating and I think anyone with any sense and moral compass would. Then there were contradictions in the BOM from one verse to the other as well as doctrine vs. scripture contradictions

In one of the church bulletins I specifically remember they had it as “profit” instead of Prophet. Why do I constantly see this typo among the Mormon community? I’m just curious. It’s almost ironic.

When I was in SLC this summer my TBM friend went to purchase her garments and I waited on her in the Deseret book store because apparently the distribution center is in there? Well, it was quick, I figure you flash them your Temple recommend pick your preference and go. I wondered if there would be any questions though if you purchased a size clearly not for you or for the opposite sex. Someone h

They totally aren’t acknowledging it was even a teaching anymore. Every time I asked the missionaries they always denied it was a teaching but it indeed was at one time. I find it absolutely preposterous anyone would even say they believe in a loving God and teach such a hateful thing.

The irony... My friend, sang her song “Child of Light” at my baptism. I requested “I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say” but she said she couldn’t find it in the hymnal. Why? It had been ripped off and revised with the lyrics “If You Could Hie to Kolob”. I didn’t discover this until later and was so confused of why the song wasn’t there since I heard an instrumental of it in the backg

The church always made it this huge thing. It’s a BLESSING to wear garments. On the other hand women who had not received them yet dressed just as “immodestly” as “non-members”. The church kinda taught in my experience though non-garment wearing members should be preparing themselves spiritually for the day they will wear them by dressing just as modestly as everyone who is wearing the

I investigated in 2012. I think I investigated for two months and was baptized which was a surprise even for me because I was and am back to being devoutly Catholic. I only stayed about a year. The reasons why is worth another discussion on another day. I think what was the final straw for me was when after resigning and considering coming back I was told by the missionaries that my attendance to

I’ll try again to explain all the information I learned. I may not be Mormon anymore but have always been fascinated by family history and ancestry. It took me like 15 min to post my explanation the first time and it vanished!
