The constellation Orion is so perfect that it is hard to believe it arose just by chance. Orion's belt is just like a real belt, complete with a slight sag in the middle. He has a sword and a bow. Scorpius is almost as perfect as Orion. It looks like a scorpion and is very impressive. It is also interesting that these constellations are on opposite sides of the sky, so you cannot see both at

Maybe people automatically know by "The Spirit" if somebody has exercised unrighteousness dominion, and if they claim to believe the ordinance was authentic, they are lying. So all those people who accepted false ordinances as true knew they were not really true.

Mormons believe that the BOM is perfect. They believe the Bible is imperfect, and therefore the BOM, and other things, were necessary to correct those imperfections. But the BOM claims to be imperfect. It says we should not judge it because of its imperfections. How can one imperfection correct another imperfection?

A man walked into a Mormon church building once and asked to see the bishop. When the bishop identified himself, the man shot and killed him. I don't know what the motivation was.

Dehlin interviewed a man who was a professor of journalism at BYU. He was related to Boyd K. Packer somehow. It was interesting because the man said that Packer was more honest in a way than most GAs are. Packer acknowledged that there are some arguments against the Church that are logical. He didn't try to prove them wrong. Instead, he said, "Some things that are true are not very usef

Look at the copies of the Book of Mormon that missionaries hand out. They are the color blue. The Book of Mormon is the keystone of our religion. A keystone is always the same color as the rest of the building. Since the keystone is blue, the rest of the Church must be blue also. I know that my reasoning is perfectly logical. I know the Church is blue.

In the past, the temple had a mystique about it because people didn't go that much. They spent most of their Church time on other things. The temple was something remote and mysterious. Most people didn't like going because they thought it was boring and strange. As long as the temple only took up a small percentage of their time, they could put up with it. Too much pressure to go to the tem

Good question. The law would never come after you for betting this way, so in that sense it is legal.

You're right. Or a serious surfer living in Montana. It's very frustrating having to travel so far to do what other people can do in their own backyards.

Gambling is illegal in only two states: Utah and Hawaii. Actually, private poker games are allowed in Hawaii, but all forms of gambling, no matter what, are illegal in Utah. If you are a serious poker player, this is very discouraging. To become a really good poker player, you need to play a lot. You need to practice all the time. If you live in other states, you can find a poker game clo

Satan was against God's plan of salvation. If Satan tempts people, he is helping to make the plan of salvation a success. The plan of salvation requires people to be tempted. If they are not tempted, they cannot overcome temptation, repent, and be saved. If Satan refuses to tempt people, he makes the plan of salvation impossible to achieve. God must follow the "rules of good&q

In high school I was known as being "smart". I worried about whether or not I was the "smartest". The valedictorian got higher grades than I did. Was he smarter than I was? My brother got a higher standardized test score than I did. Was he smarter than I was? Now that we are middle-aged, both my classmate and brother are more financially successful than I am. The casu

People are always calling other people "spiritual". What does that word mean? That is a very ambiguous word. Does it mean kind, loving, empathetic, devoted, etc.? Do you have to believe in God and/or a religion to be spiritual? If somebody is "good", does that mean he/she is spiritual? Does a person need to be Christian to be "spiritual"? How about the "p

On your mission, did you ever feel "great joy" when an investigator gained a testimony and committed to baptism? Did you have a "meeting of the minds"? Did you keep in touch with each other after your mission? Did the investigator "eat up" all of your teachings? Did you feel you did a perfect job teaching, and that the investigator understood all of your teaching

I don't have life insurance. He wants information about my health insurance. When I really think about it, it's strange that he would want my bank statements. Maybe I should ask him exactly why he wants them. He is afraid that if I get important mail that I will lose it, because he doesn't think I organize things very well.

I don't know. Maybe some Muslim countries do. Maybe some European countries in the middle ages had state churches that required attendance. The Massachusetts Bay colony seems to have been a place that may have required attendance at a state church, for all practical purposes.

How do you explain the fact that my mom, dad, and siblings are all believing Mormons, and that they don't listen to me when I try to tell them why I don't believe? It's surreal. It's like I was purposely born into this situation because I did something in a past life to deserve it. Maybe if you harm people in a certain way, you are born again as the same type of person you harmed in your pre

According to my aunt, my dad had an abusive father. My dad was not a believer in his Mormon religion, but life was so chaotic that he wanted "out". So he became an active Mormon as a form of rebellion against his parents, and as a way to gain stability in his life. My dad is not a really mean person. He loves me and nice to be with. But I think he did not learn how best to raise

Because of Covid-19, many Mormons are/were not going to church. Since they are not going to church, they have a lot of time alone, and they miss church, so they read about it on the internet. They stumble upon the information the Church does not want them to read, and they start to lose their testimonies. They don't spend time around other Mormons, so there is nobody around to tell them they sh

Yes, I rely on him for financial help. It's nice to have the money. I live in a place that is nicer than one I would have chosen if I had to pay for all of it myself. But he tries to keep me in Provo. There are nice things in Provo, but a big drawback is the religious atmosphere. I would like to live in Salt Lake, where you can experiment with a lot of different kinds of religion. I used to

My dad insists that I have my mail delivered to his house. He brings the mail over to my apartment later. Recently, he got a piece of mail for me that was really, really important for me to deal with right away. He didn't tell me about it until it was too late. It has to do with health insurance. If he would have given it to me on time, it would have been easy to deal with. Since he did n

When you have a state church, everybody is required by law to attend. Everybody has to pay dues, whether it be tithing or some other form of payment. People are more understanding of others in a state church. The know everybody is being forced to attend, so there is a feeling of "we're all in this together." In Mormonism, if you don't believe, it's really hard to pay tithing j
