I have an understanding of Masonry and Mormonism, but am looking to expand my expertise especially if the two are still quite heavily linked. I do know of the temple blood oath rituals, now apparently discontinued. The clothing with aprons That founders were Masons, JS, HS That an oath from the early 20th century included vengeance upon the USA. As I look at the strong role LDS play in g

There was a recent claim of corruption through collaboration with Mexican drug Cartels made before the Arizona State Joint Oversight Committee—prominent members of the LDS Church were claimed to be involved including the laundering of criminal money. Key search names would be Brittney and Dawna Chavez, John Thaler and Mesa Mayor Giles, AZ State Senator Ken Bennett. My interest is has this ma

How is Communism not a belief system. A yet to succeed belief system always seeking a community that can make it work for the first time. Or not. Believe what you want. If I did not present facts all you have to offer is the successful Communist nation. Maybe China?!?

Wow!!! Perhaps the purity and motivations can be better understood by those trusting believers better. Believing in false prophets is a hard habit to break. The Scientific Method should never berate transparency and accountability even from those they deem unworthy to request transparency and accountability. Science! Scientists and the Ancient Mormon city Zarahemla— Could science

So I found the thread where the CES Letter was introduced to this Forum. Mormon Thinker posted a links on April, 23 2013 Letter to a CES Director. Very well received. Finished work pretty much—discussion about how to get it out there. I went to the website just now and found that one of the criticisms put forward has been that it was somehow crowdsourced. This claim is refuted apparen

Of course criticism of the institutional evil is legitimate. There were also real people—my ancestors, maybe yours. Who got on boats to The United States. Walked through hostile territory, temporarily settling along thr way to get to The Wilderness. Baring and burying along the way. Just a very human experience and also a very American experience. I would imagine very real peo

In a search here you used to be able to find the day it was introduced. It was more than discussed—it was proofed and vetted. Thr original work was well done and comprehensive so I could not say how much editing was done, but ExMormon.org was part of the process. He was treated so unjustly by The Priesthood for asking a few sincere and really well thought out questions.

I believe this Letter is consequential of a historical nature. I also like to think that ExMormon.org was a key part of the process of its impact. Well done. Very sincere. How can you refute sincerity and facts, irrefutable facts. Mind the passage of time— they are gaslighting now. The Mormon Church of the seventies is going away by the day.

Something about this song is especially beautiful as of late. “No toil or labor fear” I know the journey is different for many of us and yet also many of us have had a similar journey and I do assert that there is beauty. For me institutional evil and individual evil are fascinating—and the LDS Church has beautiful, long-suffering, hopeful people that do not see the institution as

One of my favorite memories of Ezmormon.org is the day the CES Letter was proofed on this site. For all the good and bad here, it will always have that endeavor. I recall a lot of enthusiasm and support for the work. CES Directors are near and dear to my heart. I was a devoted son to a great one. Such an undertaking to intellectually defend the Truth Claims of The Church of Jesus Christ of

So, what a great thread for Ex-Mormon.org I defer to the great poet warrior scientist musician Buckaroo Banzai “No matter where you go, there you are” I do not have an answer, although as a well-travelled man, I used to have answers. Prague, Sydney, Buenos Aires, maybe Montreal, but really, escapism. Former Mormons—those of us with a pedigree do have our genetics and they are Ame

The only thing more repulsive to me than his gaslighting was how my TBMs selectively ignored or dismissed these words of their prophet. I was there Gordo and it was doctrine. Know Your Religion Skippy, stand on that Nephite Wall and speak your truth. Yeah, right. BuSiness shill in religious trappings.

Leadership roles in an organization that trades in institutional evil is individual evil. No way around this reality. You cannot be an honest FBI agent with a corrupt boss, if you choose your comfort and security over the exposure of the corruption. It does not work that way. One of the most useful qualities of a Mormon in institutional evil is the ability to do evil in order to obey th

I had a friend, BYU graduate, who would have testified under oath that electroshock therapy happened under the leadership of Dallin Oaks at the BYU. I imagine Oaks is parsing words under his lawyerly credentials as it has been pretty well documented by this time.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a proven fraud. Having acknowledge that— I believe better wording, especially to a TBM is The Truth Claims of the LDS Church are a proven fraud. To many this truth will not matter. In chaos, still waters are welcome, even if an illusion. There’s a lot of chaos these days.

Heber (City) Must be said with the local accent. BYU friend and I would meet up in Utah for 4-5 round a day golf outings and we loved courses along Hwy 40 I think around Park City. Beautiful course near Midway Wasatch Mountain State Park. Paired up with some nice locals in jean shorts and their tip was the greens run towards Heber. Running golf and other things joke for years—delig

When I was working based out of St. George periodically, I used to ruminate as to why Hurricane must be pronounced Her-kin (I remember it as (Herri—kin) I landed upon my own story that works well for me. At one time the wife of the Dear Leader in the Area needed something to rhyme in song or poem with La Verkin and what was the understandably named mouth-of-the-canyon town of Hurricane

You mention Moroni returning as a resurrected angel. I have always been curious about this part of the stories. It has been my understanding that Mormon and Christian doctrine has been that there was a resurrection of the dead when Christ was resurrected and that since his death those that died remained in spirit for the Second Coming where they would reunite with a glorified body. Thus th
