Star Wars Episide III, 2005, that was 2 years into the Iraq War, and the movie would have been in early production in 2003 when the war began. Lost lives were piling up, Bush Jr. was taking back his "bring it on" faux pas.

More than one commentator felt the scene was directly referring to Bush, who had used manipulative "you're with us or against us" rhetoric and pissed off moderate wary allies, ie France, Venezuela, Chili...and which is what Skywalker had just said in the movie, elicting your quote from Obi-wan.

Then the US uses the same stupid logic to alienate potential swing-allies inside Iraq, forcing them out and forcing compatriates to either choose the insurgency, the US, or neither and be accused by BOTH of being complicit.

I digress.

Mormonism suffers from the same absolutism as most other religions, and is especially allot like Islam and conservative Christianity.

It aired on the History Channel a few years ago and it's about Star Wars and how it reflects stories of the fall of Republics. Very good documentary. It shows Anakin and the bush quote, "Either you're with us, or you're with the terrorists" back-to-back.

I don't know if Lucas did this intentionally or not but there is no doubt that it has political undertones. Also, false dilemma is very much a logical fallacy that is heavily used in Mormondumb.

Like:

Mormon or antimormon.
Abstinence or Alcoholic.
Us or them.
Zion or Babylon.
Believer or apostate.
Back or white.
Right or wrong.

No other options are considered. I may very well be a moderate drinking, orange, semi-believing jackmormon who lives in New York but none of those are choices with false dilemma. If not A then B. There is no C.
