The LDS church announced that it has been the policy recently that every monday, especially after General Conference, the GA.s review the written transcripts of their talks to ensure that the written words were in harmony with the spoken word, "AND FOLLOWED THE INTENT" of the talk they gave at conference.

After conference editing at its best !!!

The edited words mean nothing compared to what the world heard first.

So close down the conference center and broadcast only pre-recorded conference talks.

Well maybe they ought to take the time to read them for that purpose a little more carefully BEFORE it is read.

"The LDS church announced that it has been the policy recently" ie: after this weekend's backlash we decided to do a little editing and then call it our new 'policy to do so.' How often have they reedited talks the day after they're given?

and approved beforehand. Or maybe, lately, they are getting sloppy.
Maybe Packer approves the talks! :-) And nobody double checks his!

The church has been busted and they know it.

Reputable organizations would not edit the original and present it as what was said. Reputable organizations would send out a follow-up message correcting any errors made during the speech and APOLOGIZE for the error.

They would release the pre-prepared speech to the web site as the speaker starts his speech. The pre-prepared speech would be fully reviewed and approved before hand. Then if the speaker deviated from the prepared text, they could fall back on the text version previously released. It is not perfect, they could still release one version and say something else in conference, but this changing a story 4 days latter after a storm of controversy just looks BAD.
