church job vs. the economy

An LDS (I use the term lightly) guy came into my store today. I was his home teacher many years ago. He and I have had some talks since I've left the church and he feels a lot of the same way I do. Onto today:


Me: Are you still working for the church?
Him: Yes.
Me: Don't you need a temple rec.?
Him: Yes.
Me: That must be an interesting interview session.
Him: A wink and a nod and you're through. You may have to put up with a lot of things you don't want to, but it's a great job in a not so great economy.
