The Norse landings in North America were about 1000 A.D., at a time when the Book of Mormon (supposedly) was resting inside the hill of Cumorah waiting for Joseph Smith jr to be born. The BoM plates were (supposedly) deposited there several hundred years before the ancestors of any vikings had developed ships that could take them across the Atlantic - or to England. So Jaredites = Vikings, and in the BoM? That's about as plausible as someone believing the Nephites came to America with Columbus.
