Great topic, especially considering the morg keeps people so busy there's no time to do much else. TBMs miss out on a lot of life's richness and variety.

...of asking older citizens where they were and what they were doing duing WWII. I've gotten some fascinating stories in response. A friend's mom (an R.N.) landed at Normandy shortly after D-Day. A coworker served in the North African campaign. A Japanese-American man was separated from his cousin's family during the war. He was in a domestic internment camp along with his family. He was stunned to see his cousin (a Japanese aide-de-camp) in newsreel coverage, onboard the Missouri during the surrender ceremonies.

A lot of these hobbies are mixed in with family and work, and are overlapped. It seems like a lot of interests, but that explains why I was so resentful that the cult demanded that I waste time doing things I did not like to do.

Being a Jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none, I envy people who are experts, that have a specialty.

Made the top of my first quilt (crib size) last week! They are closed next week but in 2 weeks I finish it! :-) I had never used a sewing machine or measured fabric before - its been a great learning experience. It's an awesome group of ladies - most of the quilts they do they donate to nursing homes, a ladies addiction program (the ladies keep the quilt when they graduate) and for pediatric patients.

I keep trying to make bread..it never turns out lol.

I started x-stitching again too! I posted an wanted on freecycle and a nice lady gave me some x-stitch supplies.

walk, collecting rocks, read, paint murals, refinish furniture, play wooden flutes, cello, rhyme a few lines, walk with a naturalist on a nature dialoging, listen to narrative, listen to naturalist monologues mostly forestry & geologist, also hydrology while walking through forms in nature

creating comfort. for instance I wrapped 3 thin army blanket, with a loose basting stick adhereing them to each other, in some yards of silky satiny shimmering dress fabric (which I essentially surrounded them in like a huge pillow case, just basting by hand in a loose stitch to hold them in)-
rather than having a wool blanket with satin edges- I have a satin blanket with wool comfort
