A hazy, sunny day at the beach with peaceful rhythmic pounding of waves carrying surfers and dolphins and I said to the cute beach guy "You know, when I was young (eons ago) I used to come down here all the time...but I never saw this."

He answered wisely "That's cuz you weren't looking. You had your sights set on other things."

So that's my message today. Pay attention to things that soothe and calm your mind.

I live down wind of lake Huron, and our mayor almost called a state of emergency because of all the lake effect snow. It has been a blizzard here for 3 days, and I have never seen this much snow in one snowfall.

Lake effect snow is where cold wind blows across a not frozen lake, and it makes snow, lots of it. Toronto didn't get it, Detroit didn't get it, but we got plastered. And we're used to the snow. It will be 3 days the schools are closed, and pretty much everything else.

Enjoy the beach (and the cute guys) The only skin to be seen here is a face, if you are lucky.

The pacific ocean is something else....
It undulates,
It sings.
Surfers ride the waves!
There are dolphins swimming,
segulls on the shore and
in flight,
and the sun
wintery dim,
still manages
to warm my bones.

I thought I needed an Ipod
for my meditations at the beach
(silly me).
The sound is the ocean,
the sight is the ocean,
the meditation is the ocean.

And I think about how California
(Redondo Beach)
must have looked before
all the people moved in.

The Pacific Ocean is a place of peace.

I've often daydreamed about what California was like before all the people moved in. Its still a great place but also its paradise lost.
