How many languages besides English can we as a whole speak? I'm fluent in Dutch and not bad with Spanish. I can cuss in Mandarin, but I don't count that.
I can speak about half the Portuguesse lanuguage. My hubbin who comes on with me sometimes is fluent. I also took 4 years spanish although I wouldnt consider myself fluent
I am quite proficient in German. Though my standards for fluency are quite high. I.e., my German competency will never reach the level of competency I have in English, therefore, I am not fluent. In my mind, at least.
I do pretty well conversationally with Italian.
Passable with Spanish and French. I can read better than I can speak, but I can get by. Especially if there is wine involved.
I can read Latin and know some classical Greek. I have a smattering of French and Italian, but I am not even close to fluency. I do know enough to be able to read simple stuff with the help of a dictionary and can handle signs and menus when in the countries.I had German in high school, but other than Stille Nacht and Komme Gibt Mir Deine Hand {if I spelled these right] I don't remember much.

I can read French and get around reasonably well in that language when I'm traveling. I have a small amount of Spanish that I use to communicate with my students. I studied both languages in school and could bring either up to speed if needed.
I'd like to learn Italian and a small amount of Latin (enough to get the gist of Roman inscriptions.)
I speak Spanish and English (raised bilingual), do ok in Portuguese, minored in modern Hebrew, read French, Catalán and Italian reasonably well, worked quite a bit with Vulgar Latin, a little Nahuatl, and studied the medieval/early modern versions of a slew of obscure Latin-based languages from what is now Spain (Asturiano, Leonés, Navarro, Gallego-Portugués, Mozárabe, Extremeño, etc.).
