You know you are at a mormon wedding reception if the carpet under the bride and groom has basketball court markings painted on it.

They put carpets in the gym??? Huh? I guess it has been a while since I have been in a Mormon church cuz I had no idea they carpet the gym. wow.

Yup, having fun is not a priority anymore, so they carpet them to make it more useful for holding meetings and cost less. They just paint the basketball court lines right on the carpet.

It's a joke to dance on carpet! You can't even spin the missus unless both of you can fake it with some really fast footwork. Dumb. Heck, I remember when they used to pour a touch sawdust over the wooden basketball court to slick up the floor. As kids it was total fun, and it was great to watch the adults who really knew how to dance. When they put in the carpet in our ward building the dances practically disappeared. Nobody wants to have to march in place and pretend they're dancing.

And it's a knee and ankle buster to play vigorous basketball or volleyball on it too.

If they started padding the walls, people might realize where they are.

The local ward building was renovated around 2001, and the flooring was replaced in the gym with parquet tile squares. It looks like crap: The tiles are composed of strips of wood that are not evenly cut width wise (extra glue used in place of wood) and not evenly aligned on the floor.

I can't believe they have replaced the flooring with carpet in other buildings. What a kill joy!

Playing basket ball must be a real joy on carpet. Carpet is cheaper and I guess that is the reason.
