You guys were AWESOME in your encouragement on my cataract surgery, I've been out for a couple of hour and am still groggy but I just wanted to let you all know you were RIGHT - it wasn't bad at all and the COLORS! It's like having a sepia lens removed, Amazing. Thanks again for all the encouragement. Now I think I'll go take a nap. :)

Will do the other eye in three weeks.

doing the same surgery eventually. So far, I've just hit the line to be eligible. I have very few symptoms so I'll wait.

After 4 surgeries on my retina I can say that the lens replacement on the same eye was a piece of cake. Though I was one of the rare folks that screwed it up and had my aqueous humor drain out and I freaked out the Dr. when I called him and told him about it. Had to have a stitch replaced and more fluid pumped back in while in his office at about 7:30 pm. Lots of fun!

My wife said the convex surface of my eye freaked her out quite a bit.

You know, you don't realize how much cataracts impact your vision until they're gone. Sure, you have these opaque floaters or coverings that make it hard to see i the glare or at night, but what I'm finding out is that the entire eye seems to be covered with a sepia lens, you think you're seeing colors, and you are, but they're a mere shadow of what's really there.

It kinda reminds me of doing acid. Or rather, what people say about doing acid. :)

I always enjoyed colors and miss being able to figure out if something in navy or black. I can't wait for the time when I can see a sunset or a pair of socks without using imagination and memory.

Mostly I want to read books and write agian. You're giving me hope. Thanks.

And that's all I have to say about that.

If I had eye surgery I'd take a walk in a beautiful meadow to see all the colors.

Thanks everyone. This is my second day. I have to drive with one eye shut cause the two don't work together (one needs glasses, the new one doesn't). That's weird, but I'll get used to it.

For anyone who's thinking of doing cataract surgery and has hesitations, don't worry. It was easier than the dentist and SO worth it. It feels miraculous, and mine weren't even as bad as some people's. Thanks again, everyone, for the good words, I was kind of scared yesterday. Will do the second eye in two weeks. Wow, what a difference!
