She is very adamant that a) only HER branch of the church is twoo, b) Joseph Smith never, ever, EVER practicied polygamy, c) evil Brigham Young lied about it to smear Joseph (which is kinda weird of him, but oh well...) and d) the Community of Christ is not the same thing as the RLDS (they are apparently in a court battle to see if they get to use that name) and CoC is not twoo either.

Actually, it's been quite amusing watching her use the same tired moves in this debate as the Mormons use in a debate. I'm wondering if this is just standard religious behavior or if Joseph Smith actually managed to create a self-replicating mode of behavior. I'm guessing it's more of a, "this is how apologists argue". :)

She is probably in one of the Restoration Branches, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Restoration_Branches , the groups that left the RLDS/Community of Christ as it became to liberal for their tastes.

There are a range of personal religious viewpoints
allowed/promoted in various RLDS branches.

It does not surprise me to see defenders of our
old beliefs. But beliefs are just that -- beliefs; and
subject to change, when better info becomes available.

Rather than arguing with such folks about Joseph Smith,
I generally try to turn the discussion to his polygamous
brother, William Smith -- who was allowed into the RLDS
Church, despite his continual lies about Smith polygamy.

Most RLDS/CoC folks do not want to talk about William,
and bringing up his name usually ends such arguments.
