I don't know about the symbolism, but I can tell you if mainstream Christians hear the point of Mormon faith is to advance to becoming a new god, many will equate that to the popular notion of why Satan was cast out from heaven.

In fact, you'll get some people wondering if maybe Joseph Smith did have special, inspiring "visitors"; just not the kind current practicing Mormons would want to hear about.

I think the satanic origin arguments are a bad idea...

The symbols could just as easily be explained by masonic or alchemical influences, folk magic, etc...

It's a little frightening how easy it is to explain them to an educated pagan.

Yet, the sort of person who buys the "satanic" crap, also thinks all of the above is "Satan worship".

The enemy of your enemy is not always your friend.

Just my personal opinion, though...so take it with a grain of salt ;)

No problem, and wasn't really advocating using these symbols to try to damage the Mormon church. Just noting that symbols or not when some people learn that Mormons believe they can become gods, the accusations of evil origins will fly.

vasalissasdoll is on the right track. It is superstitious minds that believe in God or Satan, gods or devils. It is exactly the same lack of critical thinking that leads to both.

Wow, that's actually pretty interesting, at least in the sense that people put so much effort into this stuff. However, even me wallowing in symbolism ignorance, knew about the pentagram. It's really odd to me that anyone would use the symbol, if for no other reason to avoid people asking about it. It would be like using an old native American symbol that looks a little like a swastika - despite the intent, it's not worth the trouble.

The article says some ex-mormons believe the church actually worships Lucifer? Anyone ever hear any of that before?

spirit world occult is nothing but demons.
The dead are concious of nothing the bible says.
Mormons are open to the occult in full with baptisms
for the dead. I've seen the dead and I testify they are
are suttle demons the same faces that haunted me after
I was terminated from the church, gnashed their teeth
at me and turned ugly..

Corithians baptism for the dead, meant those dead in christ
dead in relegion, need to be re-baptised in the real jesus
and get free from the occult otherwise they rise not, save
it be in lucifer and his angels and suffer the 2nd death...

There are only two resurrections, one immortal and the other
mortal. No spirit world repentance as doesnt exist.

If we dont like what the bible says fair enough.
Lets all be atheist together..

Levite...
