No frills, no drama. Just letting me know my resignation is being processed with no waiting period and that if I ever wanted to talk more about the reasons I resigned to call him. Yay.
Congratulations! My frmr bishop pretty much did the same thing. 3 months after I got my letter from Corporate HQ, I went and talked to him. I could tell he was frustrated when I pointed out the inconsistencies and circular logic in his reasoning. But either way, that is no small thing!!! You should be super elated!

Maybe you should take him up on his offer (on telling him the reasons). You should warn him to set aside a LARGE BLOCK OF TIME as it was going to take hours, if not days. (WEG)
I'm a bit jealous. I started the process about the same time as you, 12/28/2010, and have yet to hear from any local leader. I go to the mailbox with anticipation each day, only to be disapointed again.
My letter from the bishop was after he "dropped by because the spirit prompted him too". DW didn't know I had resigned, so I told her how BS his statement was.
In his follow-up letter a couple days later, he stated that even though I had asked for immediate action, he was holding it for 30 days. He then stated if that was not ok, I was to write him another letter.
I just let the time go. Officially I was out already.
Dec 17th I mailed my letter.
Feb 3rd the SP mailed me a letter stating it was completed.

A lot of stuff going on in my life right now, it's kind of a sidenote at the moment. I'm sure I'll be happier once I get some of this other crap cleared up.
