Holy crap, I joined a cult! (lamentation)

I had heard the term "cult" bandied about on these threads, but I actually never went to a site or anything to read about characteristics of a cult. Because...

In college, there was this weirdo religious cult - oh, an OBVIOUS cult luring naive college freshmen (freshpeople? :-) in. I was a reporter for the college newspaper and went UNDERCOVER into their meetings to report on these fools falling for this cult and their transparent tactics! Why can't these people see?

So, two years later, I met these clean-cut cheerful boys…
